A "Count"?

A thought just came to mind recently... It all started when I was thinking of when I used to go to Normandie with my grandparents and stay at some sort of trailer park near the beach. The trailer, however, was not ours: we were only renting it from a couple whose titles were the "Vicomte" and the "Vicomtess". The thing is... it would be impossible to have a noble title thing like that since France is no longer a monarchy. It hasn't been that for a looong time.
Okay. So now, I'm getting on to the reason I brought that up: Razoff has the noble title "Count". So does that mean that there's some kind of monarchy somewhere in Rayman's world that he's a part of (and that we are currently unaware of), or he, most likely, gave himself the title just... because he's that stuck up.
Any thought?

He's just following the title that the Razoff family lived by years ago.

Yes, but now I'm curious to see if they were, like... really important in the past, or whatever. :<

Well, he's rich.
I think Ubisoft titled him "Count" just to make him appear pompous.

Razoff actually is royalty:
The last descendant in a royal family of maniac hunters, Count Razoff has dedicated himself to hunt the world's most exotic creature and fulfill his family's tradition. Unfortunately, no creature worth Razoff's while has crossed the threshold of his swamp bound lair ... yet.

Even being a Royal person, he (on personality) doesn't show up like one.

Where was it that said he had hunted and killed Space Mama, or something?

It was originally in French, but here's Hunch's translation of it:
Only descendant of the Shoedsackovskaïa family, Count Razoff settled a long time ago in the swamps in order to perpetuate the familial tradition. In fact, each member must come back once adult with an extraordinary prey. Unfortunately, Razoff has never found a prey matching up to those of his ancestors: the legendary Abominable Geranium of the Seas of Cockatoo or the Space Mama of Picture City.
I get the impression that his paternal grandfather, Nimrod, shot the Abominable Geranium, and his father, Zaroff, shot Space Mama.

Why do you get that impression? Interesting though, but what's a Abominable Geranium? It isn't mentiond in Rayman games, is it?

Hey do you know where that info was taken from? It's cool to have another link between Rayman 1 and the other games, although I'm not sure whether to think of that as official or just fictional bullshit.
