Rayman at E3 2016, possible?

Hey all,
I would like to know your opinions about a possible announce of a new Rayman game during Ubisoft's conference at E3 2016.
Until now, I thought there was no chance. But I noticed that during the last 2 months, official Rayman pages on Facebook and Twitter have been completely inactives, as well as Rayman Adventures hasn't received any major updates since a long time. So, could it be possible that something big is planned?
We'll have the answer next week.

Eh, I doubt it sadly.

The thing is that Michel Ancel said he always wanted to a narrative Rayman, but I mean, he's on BG&E2 and WiLD. Moreover, UbiSoft won't fund it likely because they always thought Rayman wasn't enough rentable. (But Rayman Clasisc went once like 10th in top paid apps in App Store so idk)

Yep I know, Ubisoft also cancelled a 3D Rayman game in 2013, because Rayman Legends didn't sell enough.
But it's been 3 years now, they opted for a mobile future for the franchise, and Rayman Adventures went well, so maybe some plans have changed seeing that and considering how a new 3D game has been claimed by fans.
Also, don't forget that Rayman 3 wasn't developped by Ubisoft Montpellier Studio and Michel Ancel. So, BG&E 2 and WiLD aren't a really big problem I think.

I'm pretty much sure that the person that works at ubi (won't say clearly his/her name, but you see who I'm talking 'bout

) told me that Rayman Adventures went really bad money wise :X

I think the chance for a new 3D Rayman is higher than for BG&E 2. A "real" BG&E 2 announcement would be too good to be true.
But yeah, the chance that a new rayman gets announced is kinda very low...
But than again people from ubi montpellier said a few times that they propably would use the unused stuff from the first RRR for something...(they said it in the "History of Rayman" book for example).
Anyway, hopefully we see ancel's new ubisoft Project. But I doubt its BG&E 2

Oh really? Are you sure about that? Because the game is free, and it has been downloaded 5 millions times.

Personally, I think this year BG&E 2 will finally be announced. Ancel's Ubisoft project can't be something else, they have been working on it so many years. The time to reveal it has arrived.

What Ubisoft needs to do is start advertising Rayman more openly.
For example Raving Rabbids is being milked a lot and will get a movie. Maybe they could put Rayman in the show or movie for a snippet of time. Sell some rabbids merch with him in it. Anything to get him more out there.
Then once a bigger crowd notices him. Drop Rayman 4 or whatever Ancel wants. If it all goes according to plan, the game will sell well and Rayman will be much more mainstream.
But this is me just thinking out loud here.

Rayman's Twitter did retweet Ubisoft's E3 announcement, but I highly doubt anything should arise.

I have a friend who works at Nintendo too, buddy.
Just kidding, of course nobody's buying that shit. Those microtransactions are ridiculously expensive.

I'm going out on a limb here and saying Crash Bandicoot helped kill Rayman. I actually would've liked to see the cancelled 2D Rayman 2 released, it even had that 3D feel to it, like 2.5D. Maybe not everyone might've liked it, but it was different, and I think it would've done well in reviews and sales. Now I ain't saying the now 3D Rayman 2 is a bad game, in fact, it's my second favorite game in the series behind Rayman 1. But I prefer that Ubisoft should've stuck to the roots of Rayman til the early 2000s and then start making 3D games. Origins and Legends aren't bad games, the plot (especially Legends) just wasn't like the early games, undeveloped and didn't have the style I liked in R1 and R2. So unfortunately, I have no hope for any news about a possible new Rayman game at E3.

Well I'm a traditionalist. No intent to insult you Brad or your love for Origins and Legends, and Barbara.

I personally enjoy all the games.
But R1, 2 and 3 are still top to me.

They should start making rayman 2d games for the 3ds and other mobile consoles like they did with the gameboy and gameboy advance.
will they do it tho? Probably not
will it be a good idea? absolutely
also i disagree with the statement "Crash killed rayman" nobody cared about 2d games back then and if the frenchise didn't do this jump to 3d it would've died

I didn't say Crash killed Rayman, I said that it partially did. It let to the cancellation of 2D Rayman 2, which I would've loved because it stuck to the same kind of gameplay style Rayman 1 has. With the game also being less difficult and having challenging puzzles. Thankfully, Ubisoft did end up making a great 3D Rayman 2 and Rayman 3. So there's a silver lining to this. Now if nobody cared about 2D games back then, then why was Rayman 1 so darn successful and highly acclaimed? It's (or was) the best selling Playstation game of all-time in the UK. It also received several awards.

I think dying might be a bit strong, there are plenty of 2D exclusive franchises that are well known and beloved. That being said, I do think the series would be a little more niche, well, perhaps moreso than it seems to be at times. While folk may criticise Rayman 2 in retrospect, for the time, it was regarded as a good example of the jump to 3D. While Rayman hasn't really had much in the 3D space since, other than Rayman 3, I think the importance Rayman 2 had during its prime shouldn't be understated. Rayman 1 sold very well, no doubt, but at a time where 3D gaming was turning heads, there's no guarantee that Rayman 2 2D had the same chances.
As for the modern age, I think Rayman might benefit from being in more humble hands, I do genuinely feel that Ubi should give Ancel the rights to the series to do as he sees fit. As it stands, it seems like Rayman just isn't going in the same direction as Ubi, Ubi's other offerings to the less mature audiences tend to involve minigames or casual play. Rayman sticks out as not being a simple casual title, but not being a mature one either. I'm just speculating here, mind, but I do kinda want to see Rayman break free.

yeah but the big jump to 3d happened on 1996 with platformers such as mario 64 and crash bandicoot being made, we could take for example mega man x5 which was didn't sell too well and released on 2000 when people still didn't care as much about 2d. I do agree if the game would've been released in 1996/7 the game still would've probably been a success but I guess the developers were too scared of it being a failure

I personally think Rayman is the black sheep of Ubisoft when it comes to game genre and cartoony look. But I really like that Ubisoft has that piece of it that is very different from the usual.
If Ubisoft actually cares about Rayman they would advertise him much more. Hell, to me he should be the mascot but that is a whole different discussion at that point.
