Well, the game actually looks very good, was surprised by how the gameplay actuslly seems pretty fun, for the moment this is the best conference of the year, but we'll see what Sony will do in a few hours.

Gameplay looks sweet, I like the idea of a more accessible kind of strategy game with Mario, even if it doesn't really look like anything I would care to play more than 2-3 times. I can see people having fun with it and it already looks like a better effort than most of the other recent like party/sports/etc "on the side" Mario titles.
Presentation was kind of bizarre though and unfortunately I just don't really like the Rabbids at all, it's babby humour and not in a charming way. I think it speaks for itself that the Rabbids are such a bland concept for a character that you can put them in this crossover that sounds really jarring on paper and it has zero impact on the character, there's not even like a clever visual gag to do with it. It's you know, Rabbids, and they're in Mario, and if they weren't the game wouldn't be any worse or different without it.
I guess it's not really intended for me though, the whole trailer seems marketed more specifically for very young kids which I suppose it's fine in that context.

I definitely didn't foresee this game to be an XCOM like. Color me intrigued.

I really dig the presentation, personally. I love the art direction - Ubisoft's talented craft.

Eh, it involves rabbits. Way to ruin an interesting idea. No for me, purely because of the stain that is the concept of rabbits.

This whole thread is just a reminder of how awfully unbearable this site can be.

As soon as I saw about Ubisoft Milan I was thinking, they worked on Rayman M and Rayman on GBC didn't they? And sure enough I see Davide Soliani, that very man who was tearing up over the reveal, credited as a designer for the battle side of M, and for Rayman GBC. In fact there seems to be a lil tidbit about Rayman GBC in his mobygames profile, if you look in the bio section.
As for the game itself I'm not salty. It's going to go quite nicely with the other Switch games I plan to grab when I do decide to get a Switch. I did expect it to be Rabbids Land levels of jank but now that I've seen how it plays (eg definitely my cup of tea) and it looks like there actually has been some effort put into it then maybe it might turn out good.

Whoah I didn't know Rayman M was also developed in Ubisoft Milan :O also Davide sure has worked on a lot of games, I loved the part at E3 where he started tearing up, apparently he is such a big fan of Miyamoto that as a kid in 2002 he waited in front of a Hotel in Milan for several hours because Shigeru Miyamoto was sleeping there.

That last bit sounds just a tad stalker-ish but regardless, I'm glad the dude is getting to fulfill his dreams.

Not my kind of game so even if I get a Switch in future I doubt I will pick this title up but I got impressed by the presentation like many. Just like Ad commented, I always thought that Ubisoft's artists are the strongest human resources of the company. Maybe this game will surprise in the end by the positive side!

Kingdom Battle and Mario Odyssey were apparently at Hyper Japan in London last weekend and if I'd have known I would have gone despite not being impressed with Hyper Japan the last time I went there...

I actually think they are right. I agree with their point of view. If you think about it better, Rayman wouldn't have the same flexibility as the Rabbids do. These rodents crazy personality and personal traits allow them to fit in every scenario.

I am also a Nintendo fan. But WOW, this is a sight to behold. These crazy rabbids invading the mushroom kingdom and doing crap like in the raving rabbids games?...
I must have an image to maintain!

It's funny to think that it's only been about 3 months ago since we learned about this proper, and how we've warmed to the idea. All things considered, I'm hoping that Ubisoft does deliver now, I think they've done rather well to convince a lot of folk, including myself, that this could work. We'll find out soon enough now, the release date has kinda crept up, it's out next week.

Looks like the intro to the game has been released, or leaked:
So, it appears that this is the result of the Rabbid Time Machine and some really powerful goggles, bit of an odd way to start it off, but hey, it's the Rabbids, I guess odd is their forte.
