Well, they're both in A minor and use a 3-3-2 rhythm with some plucked instrument playing the root on every beat, all of which are very common things by themselves.

I don't think so, Ubi's a French company, while Square's a Japanese company. It might be that Ubi published some of Square's games in certain regions, they have done such things with other companies.

Ubisoft has published a lot of JRPG and action games so its not uncommon. Off topic but I played the demo for Nier Automata and it was pretty fun!
