oh crap that link looked like another linked i clicked on before that brought me to that service has been discontinued page, sorry bout that

dammit it still doesnt work, if i try opening gxsetup without compatibility mode, it shows the blank graphics settings and the pirate icon, if i put it in compatibility mode for windows xp service pack 2, it says not responding in the task manager and just doesnt open, and when i try to open rayman 2 itself, it says display initialisation error, could not find any resolution, driver : display, device : Direct3D HEL, please run install.
what do i do, im really stuck now, also the error box is called DirectX6 setup error

i think it might be something to do with my directx6, but when i downloaded that and start it up, it shows a few loading screens and just closes, so i really dont know if i even have direct x6 or not

Anyways, have you tried running gxsetup with administrator rights? Because that usually does the trick.

If ur talking about that then yh, i have tried it, oh well i guess ill have to resort to console for this one, fucking worst thing about pc, its when companies cant be assed to update their games to suit the newer operating systems and directx versions, or some shit like that

Well, the thing is, game is from 1999, and at that time updates and patches weren't really a thing. So blaming Ubisoft for not updating the game isn't really fair in my opinion.

That was one of the most flat-out, retardedly ignorant things I've read in a while, because in the two seconds between when you thought about writing that and when you posted it, you somehow rationalised that "updating games to suit newer operating systems and DirectX versions" is basically janitorial work.

Additionally, aside from it being briefly bundled with pre-orders of Rayman Origins, GOG is the only current distributor of the Windows version, and they do include the Glide DLLs, you just need to download and install nGlide, which they obviously can't distribute themselves.


Also, you don't need to use GXSetup, you can just edit Ubi.ini in the Rayman 2 root folder (GOG) or in :\Windows\Ubi Soft (retail).

But i didnt get it on gog, i bought it on U-Play

And one more thing, i heard that nglide isnt as tood as directx, or something like that, im not too sure but i heard that it was better to use direct x, also when i start up rayman 2 it tells me there was an error with directx6, it says nothing about nglide, and one more thing i also saw that these dll files do something to where you dont need nglide, or something like that, listen im not a pc master, im just a lad who wants to play rayman 2 on the most powerful system

It seems like not only GOG version has this problem.
Follow carefully these steps, and it will be fine.

I also know about this few minor graphical downsides of Glide render, but it actually allows to set 32 bit, which may look even better than before, so, maybe you will want to try that too
