There hasn't been a thread created about The Sims here. Well here it is! Talk about anything related to the long-lasting Sims series!

I got the Sims 3 a while back. It's a fun game, though performance is a bit patchy. I've not installed it since my last annual nuke, mind. If I do install it again, I'm wondering if I should take a look at any fan patches and mods.

The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3 are the ones I've played and loved. I don't much care for The Sims 4 due to EA's ruined it with their nonsense. If you don't believe me, ask poor Ralph... never stood a chance.
(For anyone who isn't familiar with Ralph should watch LazyGameReviews' videos on The Sims 4.)

Didn't the expansion packs and updates bring back some of the missing content from 4? Only thing I don't think they brought back yet is cars and trucks (which can be added in through a mod).
Never played any of the other Sims games besides 3 on the PS3 and PC. Mods and expansion packs made the game a lot more interesting (not that it wasn't before the mods and packs). Favorite pack out of all of them is late night.

It's primarily them making all these mini packs for a lot of money still that hardly add any actual value to the game. It's not like the way it used to be in the Sims 3 or earlier. It's boiled down to pure greed. They've stripped the base game so much, when compared to the older games, you had more in the base game. Like swimming pools for example.
It's quite the annoyance, I much prefer the older games, and LGR covers this topic quite well in his series.
