im currently playing the ps1 version and im trying to get 99 lives but idk how.
i went to so many sites and none of the cheats worked
am i doing something wrong?
btw its the pal version

UPDATE: I have no idea how but i got it working, i think i held O and than released X and Square or something

And you're putting in the PAL 99 lives cheat while the game is paused? The codes can be a bit confusing, but they absolutely work. Do all the buttons on your controller work?

all buttons work, im putting in the pal cheat code and...nothing happends

Make sure you’re using the right code:

Pause the game, then press and hold L2, R1, L1 and R2 in that order. Then release them in the order L1, L2, R2, R1. Then press and release triangle, then press and hold right, circle, square, x in that order, then release in the order right, x, square, circle. The game will unpause and you'll have 99 lives and full health.

idk anymore some sites say press and release O others say /_\ and idk what press and realease means , is it just 1 presse or do i need to hold it for a few secs,

I know the code that I quoted is right – I’ve tried it with my copy of the game and it worked.

Also, ‘press and release’ means to just briefly press the button without holding it.

its still didnt realy work...i think my shoulder buttons are just broken

Sorry if I'm explaining something you're already doing, but just to clarify:
When you have to hold L2, R1, L1 and R2 you have to be holding all four at the same time. And you have to let go of all for before you press triangle, and again hold all four at the same time for the last buttons. The code is describing the order in which you press each button but you have to keep all four held at the same time and let go of them one by one in the order described by the code.
Also if you're using an analogue controller, when it says right, it means right on the D-pad.

Otherwise I'd suggest testing each button out on other games.

I recall using the cheat back when I had Rayman 1 on PS1, it's very finicky, but it should work.

Did you buy the used controlers on ebay and if so, why can't you find a unused controler on ebay for a cheep price

I tried the cheat, the game unpaused and he just stuck his tongue out and I had 99 lives. Is it an official controller? Some cheap ones probably won't register that many buttons all at once like on a PC keyboard when you press too many buttons and it just starts beeping. Maybe this could be your problem?

Edit: R1 or R2 should make Rayman crawl right and L1 or L2 should make him crawl left. If each of these buttons make him crawl they're not broken.

i knew how to test it and, when i pressed 2 buttons at the same time, it flickers like crazy ( different game)

If the controller is official and each button works but pressing 2 buttons at the same time is causing that to happen then unfortunately it sounds like the actual controllers IC is likely the problem. I've had lots of controllers go haywire on me over the years too unfortunately. Try just cleaning the port by blowing it or with compressed air if you didn't already and if that fails just try borrow a controller to make absolutely sure. It sounds like it is a faulty IC in the controller itself though from what you're describing and if so then a new controller is the best solution

Edit: actually some controller models have this part in them where the ribbon doesn't actually plug in but instead rests against the pads on the board with a foam pad putting pressure on it. If you can take the controller apart and clean the pads and ribbon it might solve the problem and save you a few quid.

im just going to buy an original ps1 controller, but new

What!?

OK so you'll get a second hand one cheap that works perfect depending on where you buy it. The likes of ebay have a lot of decent sellers on it you can just check their feedback before buying and if anything goes wrong they usually send you another. Every time something did go wrong I either had a replacement sent or got a refund.
