Good to hear! I didn’t have the time to test it with the last updates so I had my doubts.

I think the links in the first post might be outdated, then?

I had updated them to 1.1.4, I'm not slacking when it comes to my moderation. :P

EDIT: Oh the RaYCiSS patch, I'll do this. :oops2:

If he really wanted this to be patched out he could have done so weeks ago. It doesn't take much to figure in what way this patch manipulates your game data, besides you linked it before: My code is published online!
The reason why the patch didn't work for v1.1.1 was not because Ryemanni changed something drastic but Microsoft. Patching older version of Rayman Redemption would have also failed. I had one tinie tiny bug as seen on 276ff70 which I overlooked but for some reason was still working with older runtime versions.

There has not been an official response from Ryemanni about this and I doubt he's gonna go against it anyway.

Btw, for those who don't know how to install this game under Linux. This is how to:

Nice work on this, I have updated the link to the github page. When I installed it on Linux, I was just extracting the files, then using using the wine cmd command for RayCiSS, but I see you made a Lutris script for it too.

Ah I did not make an install script for RaYCiSS. But for those who'd like to know how to apply the patch on Linux too: Make sure to have the windows executable and data.win on the same directory. Start terminal from this directory and just execute "wine RaYCiSS.exe data.win". Patching should happen automatically.
Also make sure you're on a later Wine version which doesnt require you to have mono or the dotnet runtimes, but anything greater than Wine 5.0 should be fine i guess.

I wasn't on the latest version, but it was over 5.0 anyway. I think I messed up my 32-bit libs somehow. I'll have to figure out what I broke.

Sorry to ask, but does anyone know how to fully reset the achievements? I would like to fully start the game again from the beginning, but for some reason, there’s some achievements that don’t go away (mostly the ones related to full completion like the 100% and full HP ones).
I tried everything I could think of … removing the achievements.txt file, getting rid of the previous saves, starting the game from another version I didn’t play yet… I even got rid of the options.ini file and moved my backups to a USB device (which I unplugged from my computer) … and still, those achievements just won’t go away. :grrrrrr:
So I suspect there’s another file in which some specific achievements are saved, because there’s no way these things can still be there when there’s no save data on the computer and when the other achievements disappear after all of that. But I have no idea which file it could be or where it could be found.

What’s even weirder is that I already managed to completely reset the achievements a few months ago by moving away the achievements file and everything worked as intended on my second playthrough. But this time, it just doesn’t work… Maybe I’m just dumb and I’m missing something obvious… Any ideas?

Well, after finishing the game, I can safely say that this is the best version of Rayman 1. The game is still challenging, but fun, especially when you really get a hang of the game's mechanics. For example, it took me a long time to get used to the new gold rings, but when I did, I thought they were an incredibly fun gimmick. Another thing I had to get used to was having access to all of Rayman's abilities from the start, but that was easy enough. I also noticed that the jump height felt slightly higher than the original, and I don't think you could glide indefinitely in the original either, but these are all good changes.

I also appreciate the sheer amount of extra content. An entire new world, new boss fights, Magician's Challenges, and especially the new Bzzit levels (as I thought he was completely underutilised in the original game). Not to mention the "final" boss, which I thought was a massive improvement over the original that actually left my heart pumping when I finally beat it. I thought the real final boss was a little easier, but that might be because I had some extra health and about 50 lives by the time I went into it. As for the other bosses, they were all great improvements to the originals as well. I'd like to highlight Mr. Skops, who went from one of the easiest bosses in the original to one of the most difficult, although I was disappointed by the lack of the chase segment that happened beforehand in the original.

My criticisms towards the game are mostly ones that I had with the original. Even though the levels have been redesigned, there is still some hint of the old Rayman BS in some of the levels, and I felt like the later levels increased in difficulty a bit too drastically compared to the first half of the game. Still, the game was balanced enough that I never really felt like it was unfair like the first game. Another criticism I have is with the changing of some certain sprites, but that's a discussion that has already been had by others before, and it doesn't bother me too much.

Overall, I'd give this game a 9/10. It's a fairly faithful remake which still has enough amazing extra content to make the original game seem pointless to own for all but comparative purposes.

While I think this is a nice remake, I certainly can't view it as the best version personally. I would much rather play Rayman 1 on PS1 myself.

I agree with Steo so far, though I'm yet to finish the game, of course.

I don't know if I still have my save file from where I left off at this stage. I think the main reason I prefer the original is because I'm a bit of a boomer, but Redemption is really nice since it has all those extras.

I guess sometimes we're so attached to the original thing that we'll find all the changes bad.

Yeah, you're expecting the usual pattern from a boss then they start going nuts and doing something else.

I have to finish Redemption but I don't know why, I never found the time and motivation to do so.
I think I'll restart it from the beginning, one day.

I still never played any further than Playtopia, where the basketballs were annoying and then I just didn't get back to the game.

Well, I finally got back to playing Redemption and finished Playtopia tonight. It was a very creative addition, with commendable level design, though of course the graphics do not measure up to those of the original game, probably because they're pixel art rather than renditions based on actual drawings. Not that it looks bad at all, but it can at times feel a bit out of place. Anyway, looking forward to Candy Château now!
