Rayman Pirate-Community

I seen this on the Rayman subreddit. Does anyone know what this version of Rayman 2 is? Is it a demo or the full game? Does it have L'oreal ads in it?

I can't find anything about this online.

Honestly, I have never seen this disc before. Perhaps this was part of a promotion?

Apparently it's the full version off the game. I have no idea why it has L'oreal on it. It must have been some sort of promotion.

Maybe this disc was given with some l'oreal product like the m6 magazine distribution with the game or like a reward for a contest maybe.
Something strange is the ESRB rating and the url : "ubi.com/ca" (canada ?) but there is still french on the disc.

It make me think about a rayman for ever cd with Citroen logo on it, it's the same kind of curiosity.

That's odd. It must have come out a little late as the disc uses the logo Ubisoft started to use since the end of 2003.

Yeah because even Rayman 3 uses the old "Ubi Soft" logo instead of the "Ubisoft" one. The 10th anniversary version used the newer one and so did platinum releases but I never actually noticed that about the logo in this image. Odd one especially with it being Rayman 2. It must have been especially late in release.

That could be possible, Rayman games were often rerelease, it does'nt shock me that much.

Looks like it's a Canadian disc too from the picture if I'm not mistaken. I can't seem to find the reddit page myself now either but I seen it last week. I'll let you know if I see it.

I find anythings about this (not even the reddit page) so it’s probably for a contest by L’oreal. Maybe if we use wayback machine, we can see in the 2003-2004 version of the Canadian L’oreal website if there any informations about the Rayman 2 ad ?

That was the page yes. I wonder where it originated from. It has to have been around 2004 if it uses that logo.

Hm, I might see about looking for any more information though I doubt there will be any considering how long Rayman 2 has been out.

Maybe we can try to contact the owner of this disc on Reddit if he know more information about this version ?

Hello everyone!
I know this is an old thread but I am actually the person that posted that disc on reddit. I decided to google around about the disc again today out of curiosity and found this forum and one other reddit post about another person that has the same disc. Theres not much I can tell you that you dont already know but I am almost certain that this is a full game. To be clear, I've never beaten it so I cant be ABSOLUTELY sure. But the disc says nothing about being a demo and when I open it up on my PC the text files with all the information about the game never mentions that its a demo anywhere. It also includes pdfs in a whole bunch of languages of the full game manuals. I unfortunately was very young when I got this game so I dont have a perfect memory about how I got it but from what I remember it came in a package of three loreal kids shampoo bottles (probably the same three in the picture on the disc. I asked my parents who actually bought the shampoo in the first place and they told me there was no contest associated with it. That it just came with the shampoo as far as they remember. So there was no sweepstakes or anything. Problem is that if it really did just come with the shampoo, why is it such an unknown and rare item? Also you are correct, the disc is Canadian. Other than that... I have the same amount of knowledge as all of you. I was thinking of trying to contact Ubisoft about it at some point to see why how and when the thing was made but the only email I can find is the technical support one.

When I am less busy I think I'll try to get the game running on my PC and see if I can play through it to confirm that it is a full game. Just thought I'd update everyone here with everything I know since you were thinking of contacting me (even if that was 2 years ago )

Indeed, giving away full games with shampoo doesn't sound like good business sense, so this is still very mysterious… I look forward to hearing from you how long the game turns out to be! Maybe it was put in with like 1 in 10000 shampoo boxes or something?

It would be surprised if it is actually the full game. Also, I wonder if there is something different in the PDFs of the manuals.
