Rayman 2: Revolution?

Hey guys. First off, I wanna introduce myself by saying I've been playing Rayman since my Mom bought a copy of Rayman 1 in 1998 when we got our first computer. Since then, I've been obsessed. But what's everyone's opinion of Rayman 2 for the PS2? I've tried so hard to get into it, but I just can't. I like the N64/PC/PS1/Dreamcast versions way better.

It's bad. Rayman 2 on the Gameboy Color is the definitive version.

If you don't mind me asking, what are your thoughts on the GBC version of Rayman 2? I've never played that version.

I never played it either but I've seen walkthroughs of it on Youtube. The cutscenes are very poorly drawn and the game uses elements and music from Rayman 1 GBC and the two "boss fights" in the game are just two robo pirates. Looks bad and rushed.

What ? Rayman 2 Forever was never the definitive version of Rayman 2.

Many people say the Dreamcast version is the definitive version of Rayman 2, but in my eyes the PS2 version of Rayman 2 (Rayman 2 Revolution) will always remain as the definitive version.

Definitive, my friend.
That’s exactly why I asked what he thought of the game bc it seemed a bit strange for someone to call the Rayman 2 forever version the definitive version when almost every other version is in ways superior to that version.
For me there’s no real definitive version. I am in between Dreamcast, PC, and RR.

Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 is said to be the definitive version because it is the same follow up of the original Rayman 2 story(You know how the game goes).
It is just that it had minor differences in graphics and textures and some additional environmental things were there(like frogs jumping into rivers for example). The volcano that can be seen in the Dreamcast version of Sanctuary of Stone and Fire is the greatest example. So it is technically a better(or best) version of Rayman 2.
Anyways..Rayman Revolution does have the same story but the game takes a certain turn in events as you progress, so to me it technically doesn't belong with the rest of the versions, especially since you don't need a certain number of lums to go through the game. I guess they tinkered with some things a little bit(like the redesign of the Echoing Caves Level) to make the game somewhat unique from the rest of the versions. There is something unique about Rayman Revolution that makes it stands out from the Ordinary Rayman 2 that you may know about.
Rayman 2 and Rayman Revolution are almost clearly not the same games, in my opinion.

I quite like it. I enjoy the handheld Rayman games. But it sure isn't anything spectacular.

I agree, most of handheld Rayman games like Rayman 2 Forever are underrated.

Yeah, they are. There's some really great ones. Was playing through Rayman 3 on my GBA a few days ago.

Rayman 3 GBA is a pretty good game. I liked that one, as well as the RRR GBA version. Those are my favorite handheld Rayman games (oh and Rayman Advance too, and I really want to try getting Rayman 3D for my 3DS sometime too)

Rayman 3D is basically Rayman 2 on Dreamcast with more glitches and without the Globox Village so you didn’t miss anything with this game. (i have it)

Love the GBA version of RRR. That's what all versions of the game should have been like!
