What would Rayman games plot look like, if it was more complex?

Platforming games such as Rayman never have much complex and advanced plot line, and we're ok with that. Two big Rayman games, The Great Escape & Hoodlum Havoc present us the world from the perspective of protagonist (Rayman) and, in a lower extent, deuteragonist (Globox). There aren't many hints on antagonists' (Razorbeard / Andre) whereabouts, excluding the cinematics when we can take a breath from our gameplay and see things from the perspective of our villains.
Imagine that Rayman 2 or Rayman 3 are films. Imagine that they are not simply POV films when we get to see the world only from Rayman's perspective. Film is just an example - we can as well imagine the game compensed into the book, graphic novel etc. Obviously if we were about to see this, we'd like the simple plot of our favorite games to be far more advanced. Not just go from A to B, destroy some pirates / Hoodlums, from time to time let's take care of Globox, let's destroy more enemies, final boss. It would need much more story arcs, some parallel storytelling (Rayman -> enemies -> Rayman), creating more advanced relationships with other characters.
If you were to write the script for such drama, how would you direct the plot? For an example, let's take the Land of the Living Dead part of Rayman 3. We know from many sources that Palmito has imprisoned Griskins inside the light tower. This arc could be developed that Rayman not only is escorting Globox to the doctor & killing Hoodlums - he's doing more good by freeing the imprisoned tribe. Story is more advanced & we develop the relationship between characters.
It's just an easy example. Do you have other ideas? How would you develop Rayman's plot to make it more complex?
