Rayman Pirate-Community

I know there's a topic about your favourite game and also one about which one you are currently playing, along with upcoming ones you're looking forward to, but I didn't see a thread like this and decided to make one. If one however does exist, I apologise and would be grateful if you could point me in its direction.

Anyway, the idea of this thread is to name a game and a story about your memories with it also, such as playing it with a childhood friend or relative etc. rather than just listing games.

The first ones for me are Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World, Tiny Toon Adventures Buster Busts Loose and Theme Park, all on SNES. I used to play all of those in my aunties house as a kid and I used to love staying over at her house, where they had a SNES. I had a SEGA Mega Drive at home and no SNES, so it used to be really fun being able to play the SNES there. The Mario titles I also used to play when I stayed in my Grandmothers, I used to play them with my uncles a lot too.

Streets Of Rage, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Golden Axe and Columns on SEGA Mega Drive. I used to have one as a kid with a 6 in 1 cartridge containing those titles and a separate copy of Sonic. I just remember playing those a lot since the Mega Drive was my first real console that wasn't a Chinese made NES clone.

On PlayStation, there's Rayman (obviously ) which was a huge part of my childhood and I also used to play it with a childhood friend and also at my cousins a few times, then there's Crash Bandicoot Warped which I used to play a lot with a few childhood friends also. I remember also playing Syphonfilter 3 which I used to play a lot, my cousins used to stay over at mine around that stage and we'd take turns at playing it.

The Pokémon games such as Blue, Yellow, Silver and Gold also bring back a lot of memories from playing it with childhood friends. We used to be trading and battling a lot using the link leads (ah memories ). I'll also never forget all the glitches and cheats, such as the trainer glitch with the guy who shows you how to catch Pokémon. We used to use it to clone Rare Candies or Master Balls.

GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas on PS2. I used to also play them with my uncles a lot and even played a lot of Vice City with a childhood friend (despite how GTA isn't a game for kids ). I also used to play Aggressive Inline, Crash Bandicoot TWoC a lot with that same friend, along with the EyeToy games. Aggressive inline is a game similar to Tony Hawks, except instead you're on roller blades instead of a skateboard. We actually used to have a lot of fun with that. I have a lot of memories of those EyeToy games too from playing with a couple of childhood friends, my cousins, and even my uncles. A lot of us used to play them and just have great craic.

I can't think of anymore right now, but those are some of the ones I have great memories with.

I must have been 4 or 5 when I started playing games... I remember playing a lot of Flash games, mostly Ultimate Flash Sonic and Final Fantasy Sonic X 5. I did play a couple of Mario games, plus that GBC Rayman remake.
My first real gaming console was a Nintendo DS Lite that I glt when I was like 6, and I played a lot of Mario 64, Kart and Bros. on that console.
My dad bought a PS3 because it was the best Blu-Ray player available, he also got Ridge Racer 7 with it.
Also, for some reason, someone installed zSNES with Mario All-Stars, Bootleg Sonic 4, and Super Bomberman on my crappy laptop, so I played those as well (this was when I was about 7)
I got my first Rayman games (3 HD, 1 and Origins) around 9? Which is also when I got Sonic Colors DS, which made me a big Sonic fan (again), and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games 2012, which made me know Metal Sonic.
I got Sonic CD 2011, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Generations when I was 10, and, uh, downloaded a whole lot of Sonic ROMs.
That's pretty much it.

Oh yeah, Ultimate Flash Sonic is a classic, as well as Fireboy & Watergirl and Playing with Fire 2 for that matter. One of my cousins recently showed me an interesting downloadable Flash game: Need for Madness. Actually, in my opinion, the soundtrack is really nice and the game looks really fun to play as well!

Also, I used to play Sonic Adventure and it's a hella fun game and I wanted to play it again not that long ago for the sake of some nostalgia but you know how SA1 is, it requires two discs. I could only find Disc 1. i cri evrtim

Now that ^^ mentioned Ridge Racer, it reminds me of the PSP. I used to play Ridge Racer 1 and 2 on PSP a lot and it was a lot of fun. I also had both GTA games on it and they were also great since they're open world titles on a handheld. The PSP itself just takes me back to my teenage years thinking about it.

OK OK BUT

You can get the PC version (either on Steam (with the BetterSADX mod) or get the standalone 2004 version (or download it))
And get the Dreamcast version mods
And the Dreamcast lighting mod
And the Dreamcast character mods
And voila, you have DC SA1 on PC! That's how I play it nowadays.

I never had any GTA games, as my parents thought they were too violent. I started playing Doom like 6 years ago, and that's still the maximum amount of gore I can stomach (lol)!

I remember playing warhawk and seafox, I remember I loved the C64 port of "panic".

A lot of people's parents were like that, but mine didn't really mind, because at the end of the day, it's only a game. You can easily see and/or hear much worse on the internet, or perhaps even just in reality.

My childhood games:

Rayman 2 The Great Escape (PS1)
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (PS1)
Fighting Force (PS1)
Tekken 3 (PS1)

I played Rayman 2 and Tekken 3 more back then, though.

I might've said this before, but Rayman 2's PS1 version was actually my first ever Rayman game I played and it's what got me into playing Rayman. I also have Croc 1 for PS1 as well and I remember playing that too, and I love it and everything, it's fun, but the controls are kind of slippery and what I also hate and dread about it is when the camera pans to where you are and that was a really stupid idea by the devs in my opinion because it doesn't allow you to see the platforms you want to jump to. But I think it's good overall and it might have its flaws, but it's fun and enjoyable either way and the good about it definitely outweighs the bad.

I do remember playing Croc in some guys house as a kid. He was basically one of those people I only seen a couple of times as he was a friend of another friend. Tbh, I can't even remember his name.

I never even mentioned the Splinter Cell games in this thread, I guess 12-13 counts as a kid compared to the old man I am now.

I also remember a guy I used to talk to from time to time having Parappa The Rapper which I used to be addicted to as a kid for a short time. it was a really weird game.

I've actually wanted to play the sequel of the game for PS2 since a long time and I still didn't get the opportunity to do so. I do agree, it is wacky but I like that. Speaking of the sequel, the 8-bit versions of the stages' songs have been stuck in my head for a long time for a certain period, but I love them. By the way, they're all put together in one stage.

Another two PS1 games I forgot about are Driver and Destruction Derby. I actually used to play those a lot as a kid and they were really fun games.

I guess this counts too, but back before I had a Game Boy, I used to play this thing called "Brick Game", which had Tetris and a few other games on it. I used to play it a lot as a kid.
