Can someone explain to me how Rayman 3 could get an E or 3+ rating?

The level with the knarrens and Bergoniax will most likely be (fairly) frightening to children and give the nightmares (no joke).

Also, the level with the tombs in RRR isn´t exactly nice to look at - all grey and stuff.

Rayman 2 isn´t that frightening, but the level with Jano could give children the creeps.

Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends and Rayman 1 and the rest of the rabbids games are fine and not frightening at all - though the slap-stick is a bit annoying at times.

So from both of my rayman 3 copys it is indeed 0+

Rayman 3 Hd is 7+ however

Over at rayman 2,

N64 doesnt have an age rating
Rayman 3d is 7+
Rayman Ds is 0+
Rayman revolution is 0+
Rayman 2 Ps1 is 0+

And my copy of rayman 1 is 0+ again

So only rayman 3 hd and rayman 3d are "more mature"

How does that even work

To me, Rayman 3 should definetly have a 6+ at minimum, and 12 if it has to

And rayman 2 should just be 0+, theres only slight horror in like 2 levels

And rayman 1 is 0+ permanently

Times have changed and people are more sensitive than they were back then basically, so the age ratings were bumped up compared to what they used to be.

Ironically Rayman 1 sure as sin doesnt feel like a “kids game” x_x

I first played it when I was 8 and I can tell you that from Band Land onwards wasn't easy for a kid.

What I don't get is Rayman 3 being a kids game and there are numerous amount of references to sex in it.

The ratings are not about being scary. They are (mostly) about sex and (a little bit) about seeing footage of actual human brains blown out by actual guns.

Indeed there are, but it was probably overlooked or decided that small kids would not understand them. There is nothing explicit.

Yeah, The Simpsons always outright talked about sex and I still used to watch it as a kid, yet still not know what was going on anyway.

You have that screenshot of the weird message given by the game (manual) that says something about walking around in a bathing suit?

Well, at least Rayman 3's remake called Rayman 3 HD is rated E10+ in America. Let me tell you that Rayman 3 is not the only one to question us about its age rating:
- In all UbiArt-made Rayman games, if we look at the nymphs' physical appearance, all of them have the neckline exposed and they weark less clothes, especially Annetta Fish.
- In all UbiArt-made Rayman games, the princesses also go through a case similar to that of the nymphs, but there are fewer exceptions such as Holly, Avelina and Snowbrina.
- In Rayman Adventures, the Spanish in-game description of the Sooties almost says a swearword, which it says:

Estos pequeñajos duermen durante siglos hasta que un amigo los necesita, y entonces entran en erupción. Y entonces son unos auténticos Cabr... uy, perdón, quiero decir Carboncetes.

If we translate it directly into English it would be like this:

These little rascals sleep for centuries until a friend needs them, and then they erupt. And then they are real As... oops, sorry, I mean Sooties.

If it had exposed the swearword, Rayman Adventures would end up being rated directly as PEGI 16 or even PEGI 18.
