Actually, all they did on Wednesday was accelerate some particles around the LHC, just to test it. They haven't actually done anything yet. In October (the 20th, I think) they will actually be colliding particles, and something might actually happen.

It was an interesting experiment, but it's unbelievable how some people actually believed the world would end. The chances of a black hole being produced alone are just miniscule.
