All I said was that traditional methods like the spiked cradle should not be used. More modern, less painful methods should be used, such as drugging.

Xenon didn't say that, though, did he? It was Tobbe :?

Check.

That is true. We should talk more about Obama.

Hmm...I don't think he is going to change much.

It's too early to judged that. He hasn't even been in office for a whole week yet. (by week I mean seven days.)

What exactly do you think he is going to do differently?

That doesn't make it less wrong.

Are you joking, or...? Torturing someone for eight hours before killing them is far more evil than killing them straight off painlessly.

Of course i'm not joking! :?
Killing is wrong!

I know that, but it's far more cruel to torture someone by, for example, whipping them continuously for six hours while hanging upside down.

Then why do you support death penalty?

Yeah, but drugging is cruel too. Not as much as torture of course, but still...

I believe in the death penalty because I think murderers and mass rapists don't deserve to live on this beautiful planet. I don't think tax payers should be paying their well-earned money to feed and take care of evil prisoners, either...

Plus it would free up the prisons and deter future criminals, but I've already said this.

You argument about tax payers money I could understand, but this is bullshit.

How is it bullshit? In my opinion, such criminals don't deserve to walk free and lead a happy, wholesome life. Prison sentences just aren't enough. We need proper punishments (especially here in the UK).

I'll admit that it IS immoral to kill someone, but unless measures aren't taken we're going to be bombarded with heartless criminals living on our streets, with the potential to carry out such crimes again and again.

A lifetime in prison is not a proper punishment?

wtf? You are aware that even if murderers aren't sentenced to death, they will still be imprisoned for a significant number of years, right?

If you think that death penalties have a preventive effect on would-be criminals, you are wrong. Several studies have shown that there is no connection between the maximum prison sentence in a country and the murder rate, or the general crime rate. The maximum sentence here is 21 years, and the murder rate is one of the lowest in the world. If you're seeking to lower the crime rates, there is no point in introducing a death penalty.

It's not always lifetime, it's often not even 20 years. Besides, what good is lifetime imprisonment? As I said, people are paying to keep them alive. It wouldn't be any good either - I'm sure most criminals would prefer to die (painlessly of course) than spend the rest of their life in prison.

What kind of a point is that? If a prisoner walks free, a prisoner walks free.

Even if it is the case, there are still many other essential reasons.

Yeah, after serving his sentence. If the court decides a murderer has to spend 21 years in prison, why shouldn't he be free to go after serving that sentence?

Really? I'd rather die than spend the rest of my life living an unproductive, boring, pointless existence in prison.

It's dependent on the gravity of the crime they committed, but if for example they murdered an innocent person in cold blood, they shouldn't deserve a prison sentence at all. I think a death sentence is far more suitable.
Name them.
I've already done that!
