Well.
Barack Obama's being inaugurated as the President of the United States in four hours or so.
What are your thoughts?

I am pretty pumped, it is time we have some change.

I'm not going to make any judgements yet, I need to see his presidential skills put into practice.

He can't possibly be any worse than Bush.

I think this is a historical event, the first afro American president. Also, i hope he can accomplish his goals with his very limited buget.

I don't think the skin colour makes any difference...

In his person, no, but it shows how far people in general have come in accepting each other and that we are equal. Not too long ago, a black president of the USA would be absolutely impossible.

I'm actually more surprised that Bush managed to get elected
twice, than that Obama got elected.

Just proves how stupid the average American voter is.

Apparently he got through only by about 51%, so it was quite close.
And I don't think people should have voted for Obama for the sole reason he would be the first black president, but through his political ideologies. Although it shows equality, voiting for him because of his race should not be a sole reason. (Now if I'm honest, I believe this is partly why he received so many votes)

271 to 266 in electoral votes, referring to the election of 2000. And actually, Al Gore had more popular votes, though they were just apart by about a half-million.
And I really didn't like either candidate. They both have plenty I don't like about either of them, so I really don't care about the inauguration.

I can't believe people were crying over this like it was someone's funeral.

Seriously, I don't care about Obama being president, as long as he doesn't start WW3 he'd be fine.

You can't change the world in one day.
And, i think he shouldn't be elected for his skin color too, but his goals where better then McCain. He was only screaming about the war at terror but there are more important things that need to be done now.

He won't be as funny though.
If I were Obama, I'd be careful. All the cool presidents get assassinated...
