I'm pissed off at the revisit to Menhir Hills, the shell ride dodging those menhirs is the biggest fucking pain in the ass ever.
They should make a scaled down port of R3 for PSP or DS. :mefiant:

EDIT: Actually, I'm not so sure now...

Well the PSP could handle it better than DS. I have a DS, but am getting to the point where I reeeally want a PSP. Not that the DS is bad or anything.

The controls in Rayman DS are kinda shitty too.. I'd rather they handled the port better, it seems like they just rushed it together in time for the DS release. Could have been better but it's good that you can play ports of Rayman 1 and 2 on Nintendo handhelds now...

You can download the PS1 versions of R1 and R2 from PSN if you get a PSP.

Alright, even more reasons for me to get a PSP. Seriously, I feel like i need one sooo badly. To access PSN you need a PS3? Or just a wireless router.

You can even use M$ Windows PC with Internet connection and a cable (USB-2-miniUSB). I think.

Anyway, it seems like you shouldn't rely on R2 for PSP, as it is emulated PS1 version.

I know, I know. I was gonna get the PS1 version some time, anyway. For Antitoons, for the demo, and just because it differs from the others.

I can't think of any differences or anything new...

Other than the fact that the music is (for some reason) worse.
Would the USF music files lose quality because of the porting from N64 to DS?

Yes, they would, as NDS processes sound on ARM7, when N64 has dedicated sound chip.

You don't need a PS3 to access PSN on a PSP.

R1 PS1 is available to download in Europe, and R2 PS1 is available to download in North America (as far as I know).

~I would wait for the PSP2, though.

Yes. The only unknown thing is how long would we wait for it. Days? Weeks? Months? Years? Who knows, actually.

Not confirmed but it's rumoured and I can see it happening.

I'm just gonna get a PSP in the next few weeks, not waiting for new shit lulz

I did a bit more research into the differences between Rayman DS and the other versions (particularly N64) of Rayman 2.

Rayman DS was one of the earliest DS games released. It was a 100% port of the N64 version of Rayman 2, and was done as a test to see if the new handheld could handle the same level of graphics and game size.

Why most people find that it is worse than the console versions of Rayman 2?
Well, while the game was a 100% port, it wasn't a 100% successful port. Some game mechanics were lost in the porting, meaning that sometimes the camera would rotate extremely fast by itself for no reason, or some moving platforms would move and Rayman wouldn't.
The music files were specific to the N64, so quality was lost in those too, and most special effects were also worsened.

But all glitchiness aside, the only real differenced are:
- The touch screen joystick
- The title
- ...um, yeah, I think that's about it.

Yes there are some typos in the script too.

Also the PSP Go has been announced, I'm going to just wait for that I think.

It isn't truly a new console like the PS2 was to the PS1, but it is a significant hardware revision. No UMD drive, 16 GB internal flash, sliding screen. Looks good. Pity about the lack of right analog and L2 and R2 buttons, but what can you do.
