Re: General Pokémon Thread
If memory serves, the trailer said it was an "alternate" story. Make of that what you will, it's been a while since we've had a second version of a main series title set, last I think was BW2, and that was a sequel. The last time we've had an alternate version was with Platinum, I think.
I think what's got me confused is the "alternate" phrase, usually alternate denotes a third version like Platinum or Emerald, but they've got a pair of titles, like BW2.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Ah yeah I just heard about the alternate part, which is interesting since from what I mind sumo pushed the notion of "alternate universes" via ultra space (There was also stuff like that mentioned in ORAS too). I'd like to think the story would still be closer to BW2 where it's not a retelling but just in the same (This case alternate) universe, looking at the legendaries it might even be a similar plot to BW2, remember that Colress was present in Sun/Moon as well!
Similar note but someone pointed out this theory : https://twitter.com/SacredFireNegro/sta ... 7836320768 I'm not sure if I want exactly that but those spaces are still interesting nonetheless.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
It's sequels like this that really further drag on the point that I'm just so over Pokemon. I'm honestly convinced Game Freak is just going to keep doing the whole copy/paste thing for a good chunk of the 3ds generation. Sun and Moon was an already really lifeless and uninspired game.
And porting Pokken to switch? Really? What a waste, that was one of the most defining wii U games, and once Super Smash bros gets inevitably ported and possibly Bayo 2, the Wii U will be left with almost zero reasons to own.

Except for Super Mario 3D World, and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and DKC Tropical Freeze, and Kirby Super Rainbow, and Mario Party 10, and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, and New SMBU, and Pikmin 3, and the Zelda HD remakes, and Tokyo Mirage Session, and Yoshi's Wooly World, and maybe StarFox Zero if you like it because apparently some people do.Rayfist wrote:the Wii U will be left with almost zero reasons to own.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Those games are hardly a reason to own the console.
You really think any casual gamer will give a fuck about majority of those titles? Only people who'd be interested are the more dedicated Nintendo fans, but even they can admit most of those titles are average or mediocre.

Casual garbage, mostly very play it safe titles here that were either watered down from their predcessors or are just more 2d platforming which that console had way too fucking much of. Also Twilight Princess is hardly even much of an HD remake, a very inferior one at that. Stop cheerleading for a company that had one of the worst console generations.Pirez wrote:Yoshi's Wooly World, and maybe StarFox Zero

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Well if we're just going to state the worthwhile games, then you can strike out Pokken and Bayonetta 2 for being respectively trash in my book and the same game as Bayo 1 in a different dress. Opinion goes both ways, you know.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
How can you call out Bayo 2 for being a skin of Bayo 1 when that's literally what New Super Mario Bros U has done four times.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I'm not denying that at all. I was just stating that there still were exclusives on the WiiU that weren't ported on Switch. You're the one who disregarded them because they were, and I quote :

I thought we were on the notes of games worth owning for the console, that of which, those games are at least hardly worth owning.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I think ports can only be a good thing, the convenience of having all these games on one system (particularly the Switch with its portability) is one of the things im anticipating most about the console. Minecraft on every platform and HD Zelda upscales are super sweet.
a, that still sounds pretty lazy. I'm assuming it's following the same release schedule as the DS then, where B&W2 also felt like oversaturation to me. It just seems uninspired to release a game borrowing the same engine and models from three previous titles and reuse the same setting under a "but it's a sequel !" premise. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and wait to see what they bring for E3.Serza5 wrote:There's hardly any footage to go off of but I doubt that these are straight up remakes if they're coming this soon. My bet is that they're sequels they've decided to work on alongside the initial releases which is why they've been announced so soon. It would be pretty poor on them if they are remakes/3rd version games but we didn't exactly get those sort of titles in gen 6, as much as an XY one wouldn't of been bad.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
BW2 was very much the after game that BW lacked a lot of and given the lack of after game in sumo I would very much hope these ones do indeed come with an after game.
I do have to agree that they need much more of a slow down in games at the very least so they have the time to make a new one that is a lot more new.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I confess I wasn't expecting a sequel this early, I still am doing a break after having reached the credits before I move on for the Dex conclusion. It seems that it is going to be painfully busy now with a new game coming. Thankfully I have a Blissey secret base in AS to boost grindings for the Pokémon Bank and other useful stuff for quick egg hatching.
Generation 5 was my least favourite in the series, I did not like the graphical engine (The zoomed-up sprites were ugly) and I did not feel a bond with the Pokémon from Unova nor the characters even though the story was probably the darkest of all up to date. I remember I did not buy the game right away also in hopes of a Grey version to come out but we got B&W2 instead. I reached the credits in both games but I have been lazy to beat both Dexes. Maybe one day I will do it.
As for Wii U, if I knew what I know today I would have skipped the console and have bought the Switch right now. I would have played mainly Rayman Legends on PC, SSB and Super Mario Maker in the 3DS and could have passed without other titles (well except Mario Kart 8 which I would now have a better version to play in Switch). Now with the Pokkén port I don't even know if I really should bother getting the Wii U version. Maybe if I find it literally given away but we never know if by "tomorrow" on I decide to get a Switch..

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Nothing was shown or talked about but there will be a main series game for the switch. I'm not sure if main series means it's going to be like the handheld but I'd prefer if it took a more coliseum/xd approach with the story but much more expanded upon.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Hm, we've no new footage of Ultra SuMo beyond the teaser we got months ago but we not only have pre-orders up but ones with steel boxes as well. I don't think i've ever been so peeved off by a pokemon release but doing this is super shitty imho.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Well, if the price is going to be identical to the fan edition of Sun I don't mind giving extra 5€ to get the Ultra equivalent but I wished they were more creative in the "special" editions because the Steelbooks are getting predictable.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I've been playing Pokemon Moon, feels a bit weird to come back to main series Pokemon after two Generations, but it's not been too bad, I don't think.
