Even back when my desktop had a Core 2 Duo it was working more than fine with the maximum settings.

I guess I just used a lot of smoke particle effects one time and my memory has been scarred since. xD

Perhaps this weekend I can finally fire up the game. :)

Well... It's actually all downloaded this time, so no excuses for me, huh?

Yes, I'll deduct tings if you don't play it.

Don't make me take your Tings to fix what you pulled from me.

Well, it's hardly fair to not try out a gift, now, is it?

I never said it was fair to not try it, I just have a long list of things I never got to yet.

Still no word from EA on my end. I'm wondering how long it'll take before I decide a dual-boot is a good idea.

But what version of Windows to put on? 8 sucks because of the compatibility, but 7 isn't available anymore (and I've already got Win8 for my virtual machine here)... and it also still sucks for the compatibility of some of my games. Vista was pure garbage and XP is lovely but so outdated it's not even funny anymore. There'd be not a lot of good games I could play on XP (though I know it will do its dandest to push however hard it can - XP da bomb).

I'm running Spore on Win8 with no issues, though I'm assuming your ambitions go beyond the mere running of Spore, in which case, yeah, it's a bit annoying that 7's on the backburner now.

I can tell that I run SPORE in Windows 7 without any issues.

I kinda wish I could play SPORE again. I had it on my old laptop, but there's no way I could run it now without the laptop overheating and crashing. My new laptop doesn't have that problem but its CPU isn't very powerful and the game would lag a lot, even on low graphic settings.

(Plus, this new one doesn't have a disk drive, so I dunno how I'd install it haha)

It is true that SPORE is quite power-demanding. I was lucky that by the time it came out I had upgraded my machine an year before so it fully worked correctly.

Dear members, I bump this topic today to bring the sad news of Maxis' closure: http://kotaku.com/ea-shuts-down-simcity ... 1689454903

Well, the only Maxis title I own is SPORE but I can clearly see that the game will be officially dead from now on.

Oh... Maxis, no... :'c

You will be missed my dear friends. Down the EA black hole you go, just like WestWood Studios did...

If anyone plays the disc version of Spore, you might not be able to do so now, thanks to the DRM.

Damn it :| True, my only interest in playing this game now would be to remember where it failed, but still…
As every “Told you so!”, this one is frustrating and pointless. ><

DRM is a great thing, isn't it? I am glad I own also the STEAM version of the game. I will keep my retail copies as collectibles.
