Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
But the events of ROTD are not after R3. It is not direct follow up. But I guess you have a point of it being 3D game.

You're not the only one, i don't even count it as a Rayman game.Imcotjuh wrote:I'm sorry, but I don't think Rayman Raving Rabbids is a proper game
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I see it as a simple spin-off.

Thanks, Imcotjuh!
But why are you posting your artwork (furthermore unrelated to ROTD) in this thread?

But the game is technically designed to be a sequel to Rayman 1, rather than taking place in the Rayman 2/3 universe.Imcotjuh wrote:For me, it's because it's the fourth known proper, no spin-off, Three-Dimensional Rayman game =)

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Hm, if we're talking main series only, wouldn't this be the third 3D Rayman game? Last I checked Rayman 1 was strictly 2D.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Rayman 1 is visually 2D, but the impact it has on our souls is 3D.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Well, the game is just as much a prequel to Rayman 2 as it is a sequel to Rayman 1; it's meant to bridge the gap between those two, plus act as its own entry in the adventure.technology4617 wrote:But the game is technically designed to be a sequel to Rayman 1, rather than taking place in the Rayman 2/3 universe.
For note, Imcotjuh, that image is very old, and the model in there is actually ripped from Rayman Arena; all that was done there was I added a smoothing effect to the mesh. As of now, I've remodelled Rayman entirely from scratch, hence the much higher-quality model in my signature. I've actually released no full-body images of this latest iteration of the model yet, aside from that zoomed-out one where he's swimming.

Just out of curiosity,
Ad, are you planning on adding easter eggs, if you haven't already?
I know Rayman 3 has some secret rooms with Ly and the Rayman 2 characters.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Definitely. There'll be a lot of them actually, and a lot of different kinds, but they're never remotely in-your-face enough to be distracting or for most people to even notice. Here are a couple currently in place:
- [A character loosely resembling Obelix from Asterix will be seen in the Dream Forest, carving menhirs.] - Credits to Spanex for thinking of this one.
- [A younger Reflux playing a didgeridoo can be seen in the crowd of musicians in Fort Night.]
- [There will be a few points throughout the game in which you can 'break through the level boundaries' (I loved hunting for glitches as a kid), disguised as what could be thought of as careless level design, but which greet you with a large wooden sign with text insulting your intelligence and quest for rebellion if you explore the 'glitched area' enough.]

Once it's done, Ubisoft HAS to buy this from you!!!
I mean, Rayman 4 was originally only being published by Ubisoft.
When I first saw this project about 2 years ago, I was like,
"Yeah, like he's ever going to finish that."
When I look now, two years later, you've accomplished so much!
keep up the good work and don't stop please :3

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I really like this one. Adding even a few background characters and creatures gives the world a lot of life. I hope there's things like this for most of the game. I don't even mean cameos, just characters doing things in the background is great.Adsolution wrote:- [A character loosely resembling Obelix from Asterix will be seen in the Dream Forest, carving menhirs.] - Credits to Spanex for thinking of this one.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
so how much of the game have you got done? I've noticed you have a debug room and some impressive music, so I know your at least 20% done.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Try more like 15 or 10 percent.dartofthedavros wrote:so how much of the game have you got done? I've noticed you have a debug room and some impressive music, so I know your at least 20% done.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
As indicated, if the game isn't very far along into actual production, how far along is the game in the conceptual stages, I would assume complete or near completion?
