Red Globox in R2 PS1 television commercial

I've never seen this before, but I found it interesting how Globox was red and had the Robo-Pirate logo on his belly? Was this what Globox was going to look like before?

For a start this is the American version of said ad, in the European one Globox is still blue green. Only other time I've seen a red Globox was in the Dreamcast version in Globox Village but even though it sounds like him it's not him.

That is the American commercial. The European one has the real Globox.

It isn't the same Globox, the commercial one has a Pirate Symbol, the other not.

Haha, I remember seeing this commercial on the air. I was also very confused why Globox was red. I don't remember the pirate symbol on his stomach, but it certainly makes no sense. Is this supposed to be some kind of bad Globox?
Eh, I get the feeling the people who worked on this commercial weren't really sure what they were advertising.

It's a silly Americanised version of a Rayman ad. Whoever localises ads for Ubisoft thought that a red Globox would be more appealing to Americans than a blue Globox, it would seem.

Yes, but it doesn't explain why he has the antagonists' logo on his tummy.

I think so.
