Current ideas to improve the forum

As some of you know, we've been discussing a few ideas that might improve the forum. I'll highlight the major ones but feel free to shout if you have any other ideas. Hopefully this should give us a wider scope of what you, the members, want.
Potential ideas to be discussed:
- Black Lum system
Users are issued Black Lums when they misbehave. Much like the standard warning system, only more sophisticated and Raymanised
- RayWiki awards
Users are awarded an amount of Tings for good articles they post for the RayWiki
- Additional RayWiki currency
Users are issued awards in a new independent currency (possibly a colour of Lums) each time they post a good article on the RayWiki
- Silver Lum system
Users are awarded Silver Lums each time they do something exceptionally good (not just Tings)
- Gender icons
Gender icons to indicate whether a member is male or female (could be represented by a red/blue Lum, for example)
- 'Like' options for posts
Similarly to Youtube, users can optionally 'like' a post (this could be represented by a Rayman fist and thumb, for example)
- Awards for HOF scores
Users are given a certain amount of Tings depending on their R3 scores
- Country flags
Flags to indicate the country you are from, displayed under public profile
Of course, it's extremely likely that not all of these will be followed through, but at least this way we can see what you want and, hopefully, make some relevant changes.

Like I said, if I've forgotten any or if you have some more, feel free to post them.
I may set up a poll in this topic later, if necessary.
...3...2...1... go

Yes to country flags, gender icons and perhaps tings rewards for contributing to raywiki. No to everything else.
Change the colour of the dark blue text pls it's annoying.

Black lums would mean that Hunch will take 100 Tings from your account.
Silver lums would mean that you will get 100 tings?
I think this will work....

Well Acarr said they'd be independent currencies, but I guess that's something to consider.
Personally, I'd say yes to 1, 5, possibly 6, 7 and 8.

Why not 2?

There should be a dislike option as well as a like option for posts, and if a post gets so many "dislikes" it automatically gets reported, or perhaps deleted.

I think having lums aswell as tings would be too complicated.
Gender icons
Gender icons to indicate whether a member is male or female (could be represented by a red/blue Lum, for example)
If you ask me, that has always been a good idea.
'Like' options for posts
Similarly to Youtube, users can optionally 'like' a post (this could be represented by a Rayman fist and thumb, for example)
Sounds kinda pointless, and would probably be abused.
Awards for HOF scores

Meh, seems fair.
Country flags
Flags to indicate the country you are from, displayed under public profile
Could be helpful.

I am in favour of all of them!

Well, I don't think genders should be represented by lum colours though.

Yes to gender icons and country flags from me as well. Big NO to the "like post" thing. If we should ever implement such a system it would have to more like the one Facebook uses, where you get to see exactly who has upthumbed your post.

Yes to country flags (as long as there is a Scotland flag

), gender icons (maybe they can be disabled by user's choice) and well, I like them all!
However, the +1 thing is fun, but I disagree with having thumbs up and down for individual results, it would, like Tobbe said, lead to abuse or the system being abused. But it's still a good idea.

I want these.

There's nothing particularly masculine or feminine about red and blue Lums. Think of some different Rayman-related gender symbol...

I've just noticed that. Representing sexes with a red/pink or blue colour is sexist. If there is going to be this, I agree with what Spiral said, or have Venus and Mars signs.

I know, same! But should they be able to be donated if it comes through?

Why do you think so? Pink and blue are commonly associated with male and female. Who exactly is is being sexist against? And why don't you think the Mars and Venus signs are sexist?
~I don't think that the special rewards for contributing to the wiki should be transferable, by the way.

Actually I'm not sure about the mars and venus signs! But representing sexes with these colours
is sexist. It's not as if being born female naturally makes me attracted to the colour pink, the same for males. It's another sexist stereotype- that's a reason why alot of new-born baby clothing etc. is now white. I'm sorry if you disagree.

It's not saying that you're "attracted" to the colour, it's just representing 'Female' with pink and 'Male' with blue. If this system is sexist against females, then it's also sexist against males, in which case neither sex is being disciminated against.
~Besides, females
do tend to like the colour pink more than males do.

Not all.
But my dad hates pink anyway.

Personally, I don't think rewards should automatically be given to people who add to the RayWiki because people would just add nonsense to it in order to get a reward. If there was a manual system ie sysops could
choose when to give rewards, that may work... but people might complain if they don't get anything so there's still problems.
About the sexist thing... does anyone here feel discriminated against? If not I think we can dismiss this argument.

Most likely because it was thrust upon them at such a young age.

Ah, what can one do?
