Rayman RPG

I was wondering the other day, what do you think a Rayman role-playing game would be like? What would the story be? Which characters could you play as? Would it be any good? Discuss.
This topic's gonna be buried in a matter of weeks

I've heard Hunch and Matyuv talking about such a thing that used to be here or something; I can't remember the details, you'd have to ask them.

If, and I doubt it knowing Ubi, they ever make a Rayman RPG series I really want it to be like the Mario and Luigi games because they're like the most fun and nice looking RPGs ever.

Yeah, there was a RaymanRPG project with item shops and battles and some other stuff. Kinda like Neopets actually except the gayish pets part.

The project failed because it was too hard for Hunch to do it all by himself IIRC.

Well if they did, I guess they could use Globox in place of Luigi, but fans might think they're ripping off M&L if they have "Bros Attacks". Maybe if you could be Rayman, Globox, Murfy and Ly, and they would all appear on-screen at once. So far I've never seen an RPG that had more than three on the same side. But since RPGs usually have something you have to collect or retrieve, maybe it could be a special species of lum
(Orange, maybe?)

Now that I think about it, quite a lot of stuff had been done. It's all lost now though

If more people worked on it, maybe we could come up with a nice game to play online

Do you mean Like final Fantasy with the menu.....I think maybe a system like say maybe kingdom hearts(only one I can think of that I've played thats like that unless the Final Fantasy on the console is like that too*never played on PS2*) where you can move around and hit the enemies like a platformer would.Say perhaps you control Rayman. You could switch characters you play.Globox could do that Raindance like he did in R2 on certain enemies(say robots to rust, electricity based enemies, fire based enemies.Ly of course could preform magic.Murfy is one I can't think of any attacks for......Thats about all I got...

Globox could also pound enemies like in R:HR. Murfy could bitchslap people and bite them with his giant teeth.

Do you think we could try again? What kind of help would you need?

Well, first of all we need ideas to start with. What should it be like, should it use Flash, etc.?

I seriously wouldn't choose flash.... use RPGmaker or Gamemaker or something.
(i would choose Gamemaker, you can make pokemon fangames with it that ALMOST look REAL!!)

I know this is an old thread but I like the idea.

Well, if it brings some good discussion, why not? Though often it's best to have something to initiate and rekindle discussion when bumping, methinks.

Well for party members we'll have Rayman and Globox, but we can also have Ly, Clark, Murphy, Betilla and Barbara. And if You want to Ales Mansay, Rabbids or Dark Rayman.
The battle system. while I know people will want something like Kingdom Hearts, I'm fine with simple turn based system like Final Fantasy or maybe the strategic party like in FFX(I don't like the story but the battle systems good).
And story... Depends on whats going on. I mentioned what plot I would do in other threads which involves Mr.Dark returning.

This is something that could be done, you'd just need a team of people willing to put time and effort into it. In my mind, a 2D game would be best since RPC has a lot of artists who, if willing, are plenty capable of making sprites. Programmers might be a bit more difficult to come across, but it's not impossible. Especially since there is already a 3D fangame in the works.

I agree; that's a great idea for a game like this, especially if it was 2D. If said game was multiplayer, it would be even better. That bit seems like a bit of wishful thinking though.

I think battle system should be like in M&L games because there you can dodge attacks of enemies.

Maybe but that suits a two member party battle system. and there a good few characters you can have in a party in the rayman world. besides, that system is what M&L fun. except for the second one.

Hmm, Partners in Time? Ehh, I'll admit of the lot I've played, it's probably not the one that I'm most fond of, that goes to Bowser's Inside Story.
As for Rayman, while I think M&L's system might not be apt, having a completely traditional turn based system doesn't seem right for such a concept either, in my eyes.

Rayman is too much unique to have traditional battle system
