Hi, I can give you some "official" news.
In fact, in 2009, Ubi had a Rayman 1 remake project.
This project is quite a big project, it planed to release the new game on multi platforms in the same time.
The game is in 3D, one of my friends is the main programmer. (you know, Chinese workers are cheap

)
But
This project was canceled due to the financial crisis in the past year.

Yes they did, right when they finished it and showed it to sega. Sega is a moneyhogging company, they also cancelled the new series of sonic X

Do you have any proof of this?

If it's true, and you God damned serious? Ubisoft can afford to make every game they've made, yet not be able to make a game with Rayman in it?

I also read that news today along with Rayman 2 release on European PSN.
It would be worthy in my point of view a HD Rayman 1, optimized for the nowadays operating systems and WiiWare, PSN and XBLA.

I've read about a new DS from Nintendo. It's called the Nintendo 3DS. Over 60 games are in the making. Does anyone think about a making for Rayman 3DS(R1) and Rayman 3DS: The Second(just throwing out a title there for R2)? Or Rayman Origins for the 3DS?

The news about the 3DS are already in the air for a couple of months. There isn't a confirmation or a hint about a port from the first games BUT Ubisoft is considering in making Rayman Origins available for it.

I still wonder how rayman would look on the 3ds since I have no idea how it looks like, I only saw a dsi xl recently.
Dunno what to excpect from 3ds graphics..

They're supposedly around the level of the original Xbox, which is impressive for a hand held.
I hope RO gets ported to some other consoles. You know the beginning of the trailer, when it zooms in on the fairy, and the grass looks like pieces of paper stood upright? Imagine that on the 3DS.

If they do remake this game (which is doubtful), I hope they update Rayman's sprites with his current design. It won't make a canonical difference now that Rayman Origins is announced.

What do you mean? Give him a hoodie?

Yes. After all, if he had it in Rayman Origins, it wouldn't make a difference here either. I used to think that the hoodie-scarf/sneaker-sandal difference was age-related, but then I realized one important thing:
They're clothes.

I asked him already and he said this project will not be continued... and the source code became their study materials... they only left some CGs but they cannot give them to others..
