To be honest with you, you definitely trump the average American in terms of intelligence (though, that's not really saying much). Hell, I'm above average according to my High School exams, and I'm envious of the crap some of you guys get to learn in public school. We have to pay serious money if we want that shit.
At the same time, I'm envious of other states too, just because Utah's government hardly manages its funds properly.

Haha my letter split your sides, eh? xD Yeah, I guess. I'm done stupid things in my youth. Also, I had been lazy with my first year of college, but I didn't write about that because in that time I gained some videogame experience with Super smash bros melee, which I play competitively haha.
But wow, nice posts guys, very interesting. I'll read some of them later.

I don't think that doing well in exams is necessarily a good measure of one's intelligence... it really comes down more to how committed you are and how much you study. I don't believe modern technology is even capable of measuring a human's intelligence; that would require some sort of brain-interface thing.

In my exams I got below average grades, but I consider myself far more intelligent than what those exams indicate. I wasn't committed to them at all and did pretty much no subject revision...
Anyway, the letter...

It's me, you, no me. I'm 17 now and you're still an infant. Now, I have several key points to address to you...
Could you please make more of an effort to find a job? Ten years down the line you'll be stuck jobless trying to afford future accommodation, car insurance and weekend activities, and trust me this sort of engagement is not easy with an empty wallet.
Try asking out that gorgeous blonde girl in secondary school? It's maybe worth asking before she moves away?
Do NOT pick geography at A level please, you'll find it will be a waste of educational time and consequently drop it the next year. In English Literature, please make at least some effort to "fit in" with the nerds and nerdettes, ideally by actually doing the work and reading into its subjects so you won't look like an absolute fork when asked about something? Or just don't pick the subject at all... pick Business, or something.
Finally, start working out now.
PS: This letter is not fraudulent; this really is you.
Mine faithfully,
Tom 2010
Now
that's a letter.

I'm guessing that the school exams imply that intelligence is the ability to overcome your laziness and whatever other excuses there may be to reach a good mark.
That is not a great definition, but it does make sense I think.

I think that the real problem is motivation, not intelligence. We have to motivate ourselves. You could have the easiest class ever, but if its boring, you'd fall asleep. No one wants to spend their time with boring things.

Actually that's a good point. I think I'm right in saying our brains all share the same knowledge capacity... it's just how we intend to use it.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that
all of our brains share the same capacity for knowledge. Some people are definitely just more intelligent than others.

Hello, it's me, yourself, from four years in the future! If you're reading this, you are an incredibly lucky kid. You're lucky you get a second chance. I have a few things to tell you. I have made some mistakes that I highly regret and I don't know if I can fix, so it would be an honour for you to know where to not go wrong. You're in fifth grade right now, and when you're 12 and in grade 7, you will be going to a different school. In this new school, it will turn out to be the most enjoyable year you will have ever had. Everyone there, even the 'nerdy' kids such as you and myself fit in great. The plan was originally to have you go to the same school as our older brother after that, but just so you know, our brother is nothing like us. You will not like the school from day one, and wish you had said something to let you go to the secondary school all your friends were going to go to. When the time comes, you need to make a stand and say you, by all means, do not want to go to your brother's school. You can taste bad luck from a mile away. You want to be in a more free environment. No matter what our parents say, don't back down. I know you can do it, and it will have been the greatest choice you will have ever made.

Also one more thing, you're a tranny. That means you wish you were a girl. It may sound like "eww" now, but that's because you're young enough for you and a lot of girls to have similarities. Once you're a little older, you'll realize this. Another reason to not let yourself end up here in our brother's boy's school. It's disgusting. Lol and if you have the courage, please tell our parent(s) this, before it's too late.

Ok, its you from 7 years in the future. Now i hate to sound like an asshole, but really, sort yourself out, stop trying to convince everybody that you are rayman duisgised as a human, your just making yourself look a complete f***tard. While we are on the subject of rayman, rayman 4 will be coming out in a couple years or so. It may look cool when you see it, but it will be nothing like the finished product. Also, when you start secondry school, you will be told about an online game called "runescape", in short: do not play it, it may sound cool, but trust me, its not. Your gonna learn alot about computers in the next few years, it will be a big part of your life, but try not to let it take over your life. When your in your second year of secondry school you will make the biggest mistake of your life, you will go out with that girl, honestly dont do it, nothing will come of it exept for you regreting it for the rest of your life. Now i know you dont really use the internet a whole lot right now, but trust me you will be using it ALOT more soon, but please dont ever use the name "biosnake" online, it may sound cool when you first think of it, but honestly, it WILL come back and bite you on the arse. Also, dont waste your money on the eyetoy thing, it may look cool but itll just get boring in no time. Also, dont try and be like your classmates, in the future your gonna have standards, and one of those standards will be to NEVER end up like them, dont ever think that becomeing like them will make you a better person, it wont. Dont worry about being different, just remember your better than all the "cool" guys, they may be cool now, but in a few years they are gonna be the lowest of the low. In secondry school your gonna meet your REAL friends, but be aware that that place is also full of assholes, dont worry, your not gonna get beaten up or anything, but you will think that they are right and you are wrong about what they say to you, trust me they all belive that every person on this earth should be like them and that is why they are gonna go nowhere in life. Life is harder for you and some ways they are more mature than you, but in the most important ways, your alot more mature than them. Dont let people tell you how to live your life, dont let them tell you how you should act and what you should believe in, thats up to you. I think thats all i wanted to say, just think a bit more before you do things and just be yourself (exept the retarded "hey look im rayman" part), trust me, itll be worth it in the end.
-From yourself in 7 years, cya

If I were to write a letter to a ten-year-old self, I would get a list of winning lottery numbers and company shares that will rise significantly over the last ten years. I have made a few mistakes in my life but I learned from them and the only thing that matters now is who I am today (hint: the essence of awesomeness).

Haha Yeah. If I told myself to fix everything I regret, I'd probably be stuck in a different rut today, instead of in a more improved state.
Gambling is illegal in Utah, so I'd have to drop myself stock tips to make a quick buck.

If I could write a letter to my ten year old self?
I would advice her to be prudent when entering on the 5th grade and to prepare her mind for 3 followed years.
Those years were a nightmare.

Dear me,
Firstly, I'm you. From the future. I'm about 2 years older than you. Secondly. You SUCK. Thirdly, try to be more mature around people (and especially girls) and don't have second thoughts about leaving school in 2th gumnasium grade. If you stay there I'll Kick you. I mean... me. Ceep your friendship with all your previous pals except Spyros. He's some sort of an idiot. Don't be anxious about your new home that's being built. It's gonna be awesome. Go out more. Don't ask that girl out. You're gonna fail. Completely. Get a friggin girlfriend... In about two years... Anyway forget that... When you go to that other school in two years, dont panic. It's gonna be fine. And it will have some goodies... If you know what i mean.
So,
take kare and dont die,
You.

I think i'll rewrite my letter.
To myself
I'm you, from the future.
I'm not kidding, i really am, right now you're in the 7th grade.
Try not to follow your friends too much, later you'll realise that 2 of you 4 are idiots.
When you go to highschool, you must NOT screw up the first day, i mean it, or else you will end up fighting one of your classmates.
You will win the first fight, but later he will train... just because he can't take it that someone younger can beat him.
In this class you will find yourself different than the others.
That's because they try to be smart, you're smart too, but you dare much more things than they do.
You take less things than they do, because they're a bit scared that they get bullied.
You also have Aspergis, lightly.
If you're beginning to like a girl... ask her fast, before ''it's too late''.
And... TRY to learn more in the second class... or you'll fail.
Well, i tried.
