Hi guys, have been following this forum for a while but never registered. I've suddenly got cravings to play rayman again so i completed 1 on PSN and have bought 2 and 3 for my PC and got a cheap gamepad. They should be here by the end of the week and i've been reading that there are problems trying to run them. I'm using windows 7. Is it possible to run them hassle free, at all or will i need some patches. Thanks!

Last time I tried, Rayman 3 wasn't compactible with Windows Vista. So I'm using XP again. But there is a way to fix compactibility with the games.

Now, anyone else who knows better correct me if I'm wrong. I don't use Vista or higher so I don't know if they work any different from XP.

When you've installed the game, and you get a shortcut on your deskop, you have to right-click the icon and go to "properties". From there, you go to "Compatibility" and check the box "Run this program in this compatibilitymode". Then you can choose the running program (such as XP or 2000) and select Ok.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, i knew that was a posibility but i've heard people are having alot more trouble than that, and reading the rayman 2 wiki page it doesn't seem as simple but hopefully that is all i will need to do. :)

Looking around it doesn't look like it'll work on any 64-bit, so i probably wont be able to play it on this laptop. Correct?

I'm not sure. I haven't tried playing Rayman 3 on a laptop, But I'm sure Rayman 2 will work. I've played the game on a laptop myself.

Rayman 3 works just fine under Vista/7 64-bit. It will ask you if the program installed correctly, however, and ask similar things over and over when you use the config. It's really nothing to worry about.

Rayman 2 works fine on my Vista 32-bit machine as long as I use the no-CD patch, however, it doesn't work on my Vista 64-bit laptop (from my understanding, the installer is a 16-bit program, so it won't work no matter what kind of compatibilities you set).

Does it matter much if the laptop is very new, though?

I got R2 working on my dad's older laptop, but it crashes on my mother's. She uses Vista.

If it crashes, I'd look into the compatibility settings. I think I also run the game in Admin Mode. Also, I should note that I created a folder for it (just put it under "Ubi" in the useless apps folder that Quicktime created on my computer), because it doesn't seem to behave kindly to locations with spaces in them (if you found a way to put it in such a location).

Ok, thanks for the help guys. So Rayman 3 will work OK with a 64 OS but Rayman 2 wont. I'm not that bothered about it as it should work ok on my older Vista 32 correct?

If that's the case then i'm ok about it. Anyone running Rayman 3 on a 64 7/Vista OS or using rayman 2 on a 32 vista OS? Thanks. :)

Raymans 2-3 work fine for me on Vista 32, except that I had to install the famous NoCD patch for Rayman 2.

So Rayman 3 works ok on your 64 bit OS obviously? And with no patches?

I don't know what you mean with gaming pads (some sort of controller thing?) But I hope you enjoy Rayman 3 as much as everyone else did. ;)

Yup controller. And thanks, i got it on the PS2 on release and really enjoyed it, my PS3 isn't PS2 games compatible so i bought it for the PC but need a gamepad to enjoy it; yes a controller. :) I also just realised rayman 2 was released on the PS1 so i'm buying that as well if i struggle with the PC version, the graphics wont be as good but it'll be playable. So what controller does everyone use for Rayman 3. :D

My Rayman 3 works perfectly on Windows 7 64-bit.

Can someone send me a link to that Rayman 2 patch though? :P
