DEEP scratch in R2 cd: most probably unfixable

Kinda wondering why we don't have a Help forum... 8/

I accidently dropped my Rayman 2 cd today and it left a real nasty scratch on it. Installing still goes fine, but when I want to boot up the game, an error appears and nothing happens. I'm affraid the scratch is too large and 'deep' to fix it, and I can't find any Rayman 2 CDs anywhere on ebay or other sites. The game is long out of storage in local gamestores too.

It's a sad sad thing. :|

I'm still seeking for new games, but no luck. So I'm asking if anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Well, if you bought R2, it would make downloading it from the internet legal.
Just download a bittorrent program like utorrent, and download a torrent from thepiratebay.org
Wait for the torrent to be completed and extract the rar file, and then run it normally.

I did indeed buy the game. It's a very long time ago. It was on sales. lol

I'll see what I can do.

Edit: Well, I found this 'cd' file and tried it out. the game works, but it's controls were terribly slow and the sound doesn't exactly work. I'll keep looking.

If all else fails, I've seen the game still in shops for like 5 euro, or buy it from Marktplaats. ^-^

Only found RRR2 on marktplaats. :/

Which shops are they? Not intertoys or bartsmit right? I looked into their search but there was nothing.

Suggestion time!

I don't know which version you had, but I think they're all there.

It's PC. I'm not gonna trust Ebay at the moment. I have plenty stuff waiting to reach my mailbox right now. I bookmarked the page though.

I'm off to bed now. If anyone has any more suggestions or can help out, please do post here.

To be honest, I've never actually bought anything on Ebay myself, so I can't speak from experience.

I use ebay and have never had any problems with anyone, and i would expect top service from here.

If you don't mind it not being new.
good, has been used and has usage marks
Also, if you have a DVD rental store or second hand games sales place near you bring it in and see if they can do something with it. My brother destroys his disks but they've come out looking new. :)

Or if you are worried then buy from here. And it's new.

That is the Zavvi ebay store, they're well respected. :)

There is in fact a movie rental store nearby. I can take it to them and ask.

Update: The local rental store can't fix my disk, but my mentor is going to have a look at my R2 cd for me. I hope my uncle and aunt have held onto their R2 disk. Since my cousins and nephews left to live on their own, it's never used anymore. So if all else fails, I can take their CD.

Bumpedy-dump!

This is a really strange case...my mentor hasn't come to fixing the disk yet. I decided to test out the CD on one of his computers to make sure it really IS the CD. And guess what? The game works!

So it can't be that scratch after all? Maybe it's my computer having a conflict...hmmm

Last bumpity!

Finally figured out what the problem is. It had nothing to do with the CD: it's fine! My computer had a conflict with the Rayman 2 folder's location. ....Erm...wut, I never had something as stupid as that before. Apparently, my computer didn't like it that I installed the game into C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Rayman 2, and gave me an error everytime I tried to start the game. Instead it wanted me to install it in C:\Ubisoft\Rayman 2.

Okay, problem solved! This topic can be closed.
