2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa

The most widely viewed sporting event in the World deserves its own thread, don't you think? After four long years of waiting and boring qualifying matches, the first World Cup held on African soil has finally started. 32 teams will contest this year's World Cup in a total of 64 matches, culminating in a final on July 11th at Soccer City in Johannesburg in front of 90 000 crazy, vuvuzela-blowing supporters, and a TV audience of almost a billion.

Since Norway failed in the qualification stage, I support Italy and Denmark this World Cup. I also have strong sympathies with England and the Netherlands. The latter is in my opinion the hottest candidate to take home the trophy.

There should be more goals.
Oh, and I'll root for Europe in general except Portugal.

I meant the whole championship.

Man of the match is chosen by online votings now. I wonder why the anonymous army isn't making a huge amount of ridiculous votes, like for the Danish defender for example. :mefiant:

It says the flop of the match is Poulsen, which i understand because he shooted in his own goal.

He was unlucky. His header deflected off Agger and in via the post. The Netherlands didn't impress at all, though, except for young Elia. But I'm sure they'll get better later in the tournament, especially after Robben has recovered from his injury.

Denmark have a good side, but I doubt that they'll go through to the last 16. Japan will most likely pick up three points against Cameroon, and they seem to be very well defensively organised. That's not good for Denmark, who lack creative strikers.

No, you didn't. You won fair and square, but you were lucky with your first goal and your attack wasn't exactly fearsome.

Ofcourse ''owning'' isn't the right word, that's what Germany did to Australia, but atleast we won.
And we all lol'd our ass off, Al Qaeda said they would bomb us in this game, but they didn't.

Omg yeah! I saw that! XD

To think it even works! Apparently it changes color from a reaction to heat.
