Rayman Pirate-Community

So i was thinking.. Is it possible to improve the Rayman sprites (improving resolution etc) using Gimp or Photoshop?
If so, could anyone do it? I dont have any skills in photoediting, but i might try to do it if nobody else does, and it's possible.

Extra question:
Is it possible to change the sprites from the original game so that you could for example play as Dark rayman. If so, it should also be possible to change the low-res, bad quality original sprites, with the new modified sprites? ^^

RayFan9876 has improved the Rayman sprites with Photoshop. More info here.

It is possible to use the Cheat Engine to play as Dark Rayman, but it's quite complicated. A guy named Jaxx did it:

edit: i wonder if it's doable, cuz the rayman game probably wont go at a higher resolution.. so if we make the sprites at a higher resolution, ingame it just gets bigger?

well i read that. The question is if higher res sprites just will be bigger ingame.
Cuz the example with Dark rayman isn't at a higher resolution
