Wow, this looks fantastic.
I had no idea that Rayman 1 could already be changed into a completely new game.
Or is it a different engine?

Even though the title implies that the pitch-black backgrounds are intentional, it just makes it look incomplete. If I were the creator I'd insert a detailed but still dark background in its place.
Other than that, it looks awesome.

It's using Rayman Designer at the moment, which can't have changed backgrounds.
When Terminapor gets his RayEngine to a working state, Chacanger will start using that instead.

Do you think he might be using Phoebius’s work or incorporating elements of his cancelled (?) fangame into his own? They both feature a Tools World, and they both extend the world map to the right.

He said his world-map was inspired by Phoebius's or something like that.

Then how did he include several backgrounds that I’ve never seen before?
Edit: I checked the Betilla’s Gardens threads, never mind.

I don't know how Chacanger will can avoid the black backgrounds

This looks like some impressive modding. Definitely going to try this out when it's finished!

Remember that there is also Rayman PSP, which possibly could be used.
The same with Rayman-II, but it has already been heavily graphically changed.
And I can give you a hint: There's more Rayman 1 clones on the way.
But overall, this is really fantastic work. I am amazed!

For those who don't want to check the threads, he Photoshopped them.

Perhaps Chacanger should be invited to Pirate-Community. Betilla’s Gardens is small and not terribly active.

Hey, thanks for the invite, I was looking at joining a while ago but never got round to doing it.
At the moment I'm using Rayman Designer which means I have to use either the standard backdrop or none, I kind of thought considering the Tool World would have the Candy Chateau backdrop then it would be better to leave that.
There is currently a new engine being made which will allow me to add the new backgrounds in, new Enemies and Bosses, one of which I have completed the sprite package for now.
Theres still about 60% of other stuff I need to do before it's done but in 2011, you could see this release.
