Oh, and you know the DuckTales reboot that was announced last year? Here's a first look of the reboot!

It looks like the style of the Donald Duck comics, which is spiffy! I like it!
Wow, I only noticed this post now but heck, this reboot looks very good! Being a very big fan of the Mickey Mouse comics (I have like a library full of them in my house, I usually read them when I don't have nothing to do) I think this style is very good!

It doesn't even seem to be the same character.
Well I bet it is kinda like my suits, raw design that gets better over time.

To quote Brad: (quote)
I more or less agree with this. It's sense of humor and plot development is largely a miss and while I'm well aware of the fact that the art style of the show improves greatly with time, it's quite frankly disgusting early on.
Okay, even though the art style is not great, it has a reason why it's like that. The characters of SU don't have models, so they're drawn how ever the artist pleases, as long as they look as the initial characters finalized design. That's why the facial expressions do tend to get weird than what the art style may seem to be.
dartofthedavros wrote:I mean this makes the new PPG's visual problems look good!

Woah, woah, woah! No! PPG 2016's art style is, without a doubt, horrendous. It's such a jumbled mess. The main cast of characters either don't clash with the background characters or just look badly simplified. Ugh, and don't even get me started on the animation.
dartofthedavros wrote:I can only remember Pearl and Steven's names which barely helps because they're easily the most annoying of the main cast.
I think that's my biggest gripe with SU. Steven is such an annoying twat. Seriously, I cannot stand this damn character. I really dislike the way he speaks, how he acts, and just everything. Augh. I cannot fathom how people can like this character.
Also, Pearl can get annoying, but that's her character. (btw, she's so cute. I find her absolutely find her adorable. <:3c)
Master wrote:That's fair enough, to be brutally honest I haven't really watched the first half of Season 1, I only got back into things when the began the homeworld plot thread.
Okay, I give you that. The Homeworld arc is very interesting. Also, the Gem Mutants concept is wickedly awesome. And Peridot, gosh, what can I say, but I absolutely adore this character as well! She's dorky, cute, and just plain funny.
If they just got rid of Steven, then maybe the whole show would have been better. I really do like the concept of the later episodes' plots, but this cutesy animation and Steven are just major turn offs.

Hmm, funny that PPG 2016 hasn't really been mentioned much here. But yeah, not a fan of how it's kinda turned PPG into a sort of sitcom of sorts.
And on the topic of Craig McCracken's works, Wander over Yonder will be airing soon. However, the schedule has been revealed, and it looks like we've only got a month left 'til it ends.

Ehh, I'd rather not think about it honestly. I had really high hopes for it and I just... I don't even.

Have any of you guys watched Star vs The Forces of Evil? To me it is a very good show, comedy is great, characters have good characteristics about them and nobody is super annoying. Good on Disney

About Star vs the Forces of Evil, coincidently, I started watching it. I'll soon finish the season.
I like the comedy and the universe, but I admit it can be a little bit too random sometimes. In fact, I'm usually bored every time the main vilain appear (I don't remember his name). He is ridiculous and eccentric… But so is Star and her magic! Thus, the one confronted with the other result in just an amount of randomness that quickly stop making sense. The monsters never really represent any real treat, there is no tension, even when the show try to pretend that “this time, it's clearly different!”.
The show is good when the weirdness of Star contrast with the “real” world. Among my favorite episode are the one about the rugby match, and the other one about Mewberty. The plot is mundane, the magic makes it chaotic, and so it's fun! I also like when Marco (or other character from Earth) have to deal with Mewni. It's the opposition between the craziness and the sanity that make it enjoyable!
I also like the characters, and I appreciate that the show keep them consistent, with an unexpected continuity. But… I would like it better if there was some evolution in them. Star begins as a selfish rotten child (not without qualities, but still not really careful about people around her), and so far she has sadly hasn't changed a lot… Even if she learns during some episodes, the show is mostly cynical about it's characters' flaws, and use them more as a comedy tool than real issues. Which is sad, because all the characters are really likable, and there is potential to do more than jokes with them!
Like Pony Head! The last episode I've seen is the one in St Olga's School (OMG, not only this school was well introduced in the show, but this episode is awesome, and show an interesting side of Mewni). It's only the second appearance of Pony Head, and while she was far to be my favorite character, I must say I love what they have done with her!
So… Yeah, there is fun, cool ideas, but some wasted potential and even patterns in humor. I mean, some joke are excellent, some are a bit repetitive or too conventional. And it suffers a little bit from the comparison with Wander over Yonder, which is also a show completely random and crazy, but that takes its characters and issue seriously. WoY succeed to portray war and poverty in silly caricatural ways, but with still enough empathy to create impact and clever messages. Star vs FE on the other hand will more than often show an serious issue (like despotism in Mewni or Star's selfishness), but do nothing with them and just joke out of it before changing the subject (“that poor class sure is really poor!” or “haha star you cruel girl when will you ever change?”).
Still likable, and creative in many ways! I hope it'll achieve to get a balance between randomness, and a little bit of serious caring.
And get rid of that little king bird whatever. He's just useless and not funny.

I miss the original voicing of the PPGs.
Lately, I've been re-watching some of my childhood favorites, such as Alvin and the Chipmunks and Samurai Jack.

Nah, I didn't watch Samurai Jack much growing up, I have seen a few episodes, and I think I ought to do a run sometime. As for the blood, I guess that's one of the perks of being on Adult Swim instead of the main CN, though didn't the original Powerpuff Girls show blood in it now and then?

When I've finished marathoning Transformers Animated, I'm in the middle of its final season. I really wish it got its Season 4, the ideas they had for it looked very cool indeed. But alas, much like Wander over Yonder, it was cut down when it was getting to the really good bits.
