Re: Crash Bandicoot
Yeah, overall they've made Cortex's animations more dynamic and expressive which I think fit well with Lex Lang's delivery.
In regards to the crystal, that does seem like it could be the case. I hope for some additional dialogue in the final boss fight to expand the story a bit and make it feel more climatic than the original.
I really want to see some footage of Coco now.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Oh yes, Lex Lang. While I've always enjoyed his work as Cortex, I was a bit cautious initially given how he's always portrayed a comedic Cortex. As opposed to the more straight villain Cortex of the original trilogy. However, with each update, I'm really happy to see how well he does OT Cortex. Just as sinister and unnerving, even his laugh is pretty well done.
I'm indeed very curious to see how Coco has turned out, though I'm more curious as to why we've still not seen anything from Warped. I wonder if they'll keep it completely under wraps and leave it to be discovered by fans during release. Given how most of Crash 3's additions (such as Relics) have been retroactively added to the previous two titles, is there any need for them to show off Crash 3? I do wonder.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Someone over at the Crash Bandicoot forum posted this photo of two little kids trying out N.Sane Trilogy:

I assume with that photo, the first level of the original Crash is now playable in select Gamestop stores? Anyway, that sure would be mighty helpful for the future of the series if the younger crowd can get interested in the upcoming release and ask their parents to get the game to help boost sales.

Looks great, but I hope it will actually feel like its own thing instead of ending up like just another soulless graphical enhancement.
I want the remake to be comparable to New 'N Tasty, which was near-perfect, but it has too much camera problems and other small issues.
Take the forked paths as an example, you can't see where you're going if you have to backtrack, this was also an issue with the original games but there's no reason to fix it if you're remastering those.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Agreed, though sadly, from gameplay videos, I don't think they're doing anything about the backtracking camera. That being said, they have tried to make improvements and additions, the HUD system for all three games uses the Warped design, so the box counter is accessible on demand. They've also added relics and time trial to the first two titles. Crash 1's save scheme was overhauled, and I think autosaving has been added.
I know they've also tried to take fan feedback, it's the reason why newer footage has a greater contrast and isn't quite as bright looking. A lot of posts on fan communities made note of the brighter colours and how Crash didn't pop out as well as he did in the PS1 originals. The developers also released a blog post explaining how they replayed and studied the original titles, and I feel that there is a genuine effort from the developers to make the title a good remake. Whether or not it manages to stand as its own thing remains to be seen, however.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Looks like they improved the entrance animation, which I'm very happy about. Still prefer the original's animation, as it conveyed a lot more personality, but this one is very snappy and pleasing to look at!

Re: Crash Bandicoot
It's looking better and better for each new video they release! I still think the gem platform is way to bright, which makes it hard seeing that it's actually yellow. I feel that's a pretty constant issue throughout the game. Like the gems themselves are also too bright etc.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Hmm, small detail, while it sounds like they recorded a new voice clip for acquiring Aku Aku, the voice clip used when you get hit with an Aku Aku equipped sounds the same as it did before. Is it just me, or is anyone else getting that impression?

Re: Crash Bandicoot
"Dang! This level keeps on giving! Never a dull moment and the difficulty never lets up!"
Sewer or Later is not a difficult level by any stretch, he was just late on his reactions and used the slide too much. And at 2:59, that was a terrible decision to just spin and hope the TNT crates wouldn't get hit.
As for the look of the level; awesome! I've been waiting for a sewer level for a while, and it came!

Re: Crash Bandicoot
The lighting looks bad honestly, and a little way too dark for a crash game. I get it's a sewer level but even in the original it showed. Also what's up with that electricity effect on the water? How about some type of better cue than just simply changing the waters color to piss yellow? Other than that it's looking pretty smooth.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
The modelling, texture work, animations, music and sound design are all great, but yeah, the lighting is uncanny. There isn't nearly enough colour in general and the ambient lighting somehow regularly outshines the spot/dynamic lighting

Re: Crash Bandicoot
I did not have the chance to comment on this yet but I still am pinching myself of seeing a Crash Trilogy remake as a reality. I think for people who don't have a PS4 yet this is the perfect time to get one just because of this marsupial. From the videos I saw I think they are doing the right stuff but as some members here are comment I also agree that the lighting doesn't seem to work well in every place. This might be fixed for the final release but who knows.

I really like these comparison videos. Makes it a lot easier to tell how much work has been put in to remaster the games.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Some official art for the trilogy:

Interesting that despite them being split up to indicate a trilogy, I'm pretty sure all of those locales are Crash 1.
Also, not to do with the N Sane Trilogy, but an interesting watch: I'm pretty sure he's wrong about the PS1 games using the same models though, I'm fairly sure they changed it in Crash 2.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
The blue background behind Crash contains what looks like an ice mountain. It would fit the best under the first polar bear ride level in Crash 2.Master wrote:Interesting that despite them being split up to indicate a trilogy, I'm pretty sure all of those locales are Crash 1.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Couldn't it also fit "Road to Nowhere?"
Anyways, another reveal from the developers, this time focusing on some of the villains: Ehh...I know it was a stock sound, but even so, I do kinda miss Ripper Roo's original laugh. Interesting that they've still not shown any of Crash Warped, folks are saying that they might be keeping it under wraps until E3. Given how it's in a few weeks, it might be the case.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
What did the original version of Warped have that the first two titles didn't have that hasn't been implemented in the remastered versions? The relics are now in all three titles and the detailed pause menu. Besides the different environments, perhaps live looks of Uka Uka and N.Trophy? The bonus warproom?
I am though really interested to see how the Arabian and future (is that what that one is called?) environments look like. Those are my two favorites from Warped.

Dingodile.
In all seriousness, that is a fair point, I don't really know if there is anything else which hasn't been added to the prior two games.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
I wouldn't be disappointed if nothing from Warped was shown. I can probably wait a month and nine days before buying the game and playing it.
This is a couple of weeks old, but below is the winning animation a couple of folks sent in for that contest. The animation will be in the game.
Though I was wondering if that animation will show if Crash doesn't have Aku Aku.
