I don't smoke cigarettes, but me and my brothers smoke weed together every weekend or so. I never thought I'd be a semi-regular stoner, but it is fun! We usually play Smash Bros and occasionally write music together. It's also very good for stimulating interesting conversations and giving you the giggles.

I would recommend trying it at least once, but there are definitely better ways of taking it than smoking.

Still, I honestly fail to see why marijuana is illegal while tobacco and alcohol are not. The effects of marijuana are so much less pronounced than alcohol (I'm sure anyone here who's gotten drunk a few times has injured themselves or done something stupid) and it doesn't contain cripplingly addictive substances like nicotine. I really fail to see the reason for stigma, I'm sure it's just some historical cultural rubbish.

I can vouch for hurting myself and doing stupid things, mainly in my teenage years. :oops2:

I remember once getting very drunk at a friend's party and on the way home I climbed up the scaffding of a three storey building all the way to the roof, in a rainstorm. It's probably the most stupid thing I've ever done! And then to make things worse someone popped their head through the window and started telling me off, and I had to scramble down again.
Such a yob :oops2:

Very exhilarating though.

I've yet to have a major negative thing happen to me while I'm drunk other than projectile vomiting touch wood.

Eh weed legislation is still so super complicated and it's more than just smoking it. If it was made legal in the UK today, I'd want other side laws to get in like child protection, antisocial behaviour and that.

I might be open to trying weed if it were legalized. Still, I'd probably regret it, like those few times I tried alcohol. :oops2:

I did regret alcohol a couple of times when I went overboard.

I still can remember when Adsolution responded to me how she liked the smell of smoke. Can't tell whether she was truthful or not, but it made me realise people can have different experiences with stuff, even stuff like this.
Of course, it's just an association - like the smell of a campfire on a cold night. I mean, I'd argue there isn't anyone on this earth who think poop smells good, but I could be wrong...

I've gotten into mixing tobacco with weed about a year ago. I kinda wish I never started doing that :oops2:

I just realized it's been a year since I quit weed now. I didn't even mean to permanently stop, but I ended up losing interest in it anyway.

Despite being the only family member not smoking, I don't like cigarette's smoke. Weed's smoke makes my head spin.
Unironically, cigar's smoke is something I enjoy instead. I even considered trying it.

However, I tried smoking an electronic cigarette twice few years ago and coughed for like 30 minutes afterwards.

I coughed after I tried weed too since I'm not used to it. :P

If only my dad felt that way about cigarette smoking, but I’m afraid he’s too old to change his ways at this point. I’ve come to understand though that he seems to do it to destress since he’s less cranky afterwards so maybe that’s why he does it along with drinking diet soda.

On the subject of smoke, I wonder, has anyone here ever tried a hookah? I remember in my last few years of college I used to visit a Mediterranean restaurant with a friend late at night and I’d often smell people smoking using a hookah outside. I dunno why but I thought the hookah itself looked neat and I didn’t mind the smoke compared to normal cigarettes. Then again I had no idea what they were smoking either.

Yeah, I tried it a few times, mostly as a teen when I was on holiday in the Mediterranean. Nothing particularly interesting about it, and it apparently contains a lot more tar than cigarettes so you probably don't want to smoke it on a regular basis.

Same... ish? I wouldn't say I've quit - just in response to my last post here, I got so sick of smashing huge weed/tobacco bowls every couple hours every day to the point where they just made me feel like shit every time I did it, not to mention that constantly coughing up so much black stuff all day was inhibiting my ability to even go out. Haven't smoked a cigarette in like 2 months, and I just had my first weed puff in like 5 weeks last night. I'm so much less depressed now than I was in my hazy phase.

Weed is getting more and more boring for me too but I'm not at this level yet. I've never really gotten into smoking weed, but during the pandemic I decided to do it out of boredom. Nowadays I'm more bored when smoking weed than if I'm not smoking, so I'm trying to phase it out of my life more and more now.

Once it bores you so consistently enough to the point where all you associate weed with is instant boredom, I think you naturally start stopping. That probably doesn't go for everyone though. For me, I had a boyfriend who was pretty demanding of my attention, and when I was high I felt like I was incapable of paying attention, which made me feel like shit and realise how mentally not-there I came off.

So New Zealand's going to raise the smoking age every year so that people who are 14 now will never be able to buy tobacco: https://www.irishtimes.com/news/world/a ... -1.4750949

Interesting… :paranormal:

It's a sad fact that war on drugs have never, ever been successful, so one would expect that society learns from this and moves towards legalization, but instead, they have chosen to make even plain cigarettes illegal. Shouldn't it be a basic human right for adults to do as they please with their health as long as they're not endangering that of other people? Sad to see the birthplace of the fierce Maori culture become a country where the government acts as if they're your mother. :P

I saw this on BBC as well and I gotta admit that's really harsh. They do realise that quite a good number of under 14s around the world smoke right, and usually get adults - including their own family - to get cigs for them right? Oh and that time South Africa tried to ban cigarettes and alcohol during their lockdown - totally good idea that totally didn't lead to criminal underground. Just recently as well our government has declared war on "300,000 problem drug users" after finding a bit of coke in the parliament toilets, which I'm pretty sure has been a thing that has always been going on since the beginning of cocaine's time. That's a tiny fraction of the UK's actual number of problem drug users if you ask me, the same way they seem to think only 1 in 4 people in the UK smoke when it's way more than that because people lie to health professionals about these things.

Also uh, doesn't Jacinda smoke weed herself? Or was that just the Spitting Image reboot taking the piss...

I'm more for educating people to make more informed choices, to tackle actual problem smokers (the ones who just can't get past 5 minutes without a drag and end up setting public toilets on fire, which is NOT fun) some way...

Indeed, the prohibition was such a huge success in the US that I have no doubts about the outcome of this invasive and liberticidal policy.
