Half-Life

One of the games I usually play, is a classic title like Half-Life, and always in the multiplayer mode. I started playing it around 2003 on a public place of kind, and I was a complete newb at that time. But I continued to play it, and I even purchased it for Steam in 2005. However, I stopped playing it in the end of 2007, as I was busy with some early works. So I did take a break for approximately 3 years. But I started playing it again in late 2010, as I joined a LAN-party where we played Urban Terror, Warsow, Quake, and then the mentioned again. And to make Half-Life a whole lot more fun, I play on modifications like Xtreme Deathmatch (XDM), Oz Deathmatch (OzDM), Rocket Crowbar (RC) and Severian's Mod (Sev). For long time, I've also been a member of clan called AGD (A Glorious Defeat, formerly A Grizzly Death), where I've also been an admin for their servers.
Lately, I've also got some of the PC members to play with me, especially DesLife, after I've configured my own server, and it has definitely been a lot of fun. If you want to play with me,
join the IRC, and I'll give you Half-Life and guide you into the game, as I've implemented a dual protocol for my server that allows nonsteamers to join. But remember: I might not show any mercy when we really get into action!

I was planning on maybe buying HL Anthology just to have the original again (over Steam, I only have HL: Source). Plus I really want to try out Opposing Force.

I never got into the multiplayer Half-Life, but I do like the original game well, maybe I should join the fun sometime.
I really recommend trying it out, Phoenixan. It's pretty sweet.

EDIT: OK, I was lost for words when I posted that, but I should say before you click that it's not HL3, but a VR game with Alyx's name in the title. Still, it's Half-Life!

I heard about this yesterday. VR really isn't my thing, but it's cool to actually hear something about Half Life after such a long time.

Half-Life 3 is not coming up soon,Half-Life 2 Episode 3(storyline got leaked by Marc Laidlaw)(cancelled),Half-Life 2 Episode 4(got also cancelled Arkane Studios and Warren Spector were involved),Left 4 Dead 3 was cancelled. Anyway Half-Life : Alyx is coming up soon only for VR next year. It seems as legend says Gabe Newell can't count to 3.

Maybe it's just triphobia. And why not, since Apple and Microsoft both have enneaphobia.
Anyway, looks like the game's gonna be an interquel, running on Source 2 (obviously), and get released in March (yeah right).

The worst thing is that not everyone can afford VR headset because it's more expensive than newer peripherals.

Interestingly I have never actually played Half-Life itself, but I have played Counterstrike a lot in the past. I guess similar to what I done with Portal, this game is another that I need to play even if it's many years later.

I have to eat these words, since Valve amazingly actually released it on time! I still haven't played it, since I don't have any VR gear, and have no plans to acquire any. I'm still avoiding spoilers though, since theoretically I could play it in the future and want to experience the story as fully as possible.

You definitely should! Valve have excellent Linux support on all their games, so there's no excuse not to!

I heard so many good things about it, and I did like CounterStrike, so I'll definitely give it a go!
It's nice to hear they work on Linux also, and look at that, apparently just like with Portal, I happen to have both of them in my Steam library.

There's also Black Mesa, which is an absolutely stunning remake of the first game (you can see my review
here) but there's a lot to be said for starting out with the original. It's up to you though.
