I see eternal life as a punishment because imo it would rob you of purpose and would relatively quickly invariably lead to unbearable boredom. Where are you going with this? How are there twelve commandments when two of them are duplicates of others – wouldn’t that mean there are eight? In any case, coveting something is clearly not the same as acting out on your impulses – the desire to have you neighbour’s wife or goods are a completely distinct transgression from actually taking these things. I suppose you think murder is just a ‘duplicate’ of contemplating murder? How could you not mean to offend Catholics when you’re calling them ‘the scum of the earth’? How could that statement possibly be targeted at ‘atheists who don’t know what they’re saying’? You’re the one who is babbling incoherently, and the excuses you offer for your hateful vitriol make no sense. How does God not accepting people who commit certain sins mean that God wants all people to be exactly the same? What chain of logic led you to that conclusion? Just stop. You’re melting my brain.

You don't need a good reason to be an atheist. Atheism means you don't believe in any gods, and therefore it is the natural default position when it comes to religious views. You do however need good reasons to believe in god, since postive claims (such as the claim that there is a god) require positive evidence. That said, in a world where the majority of people are religious in some way, most atheists have a very good reason for not believing that there is a god, namely that there is no evidence that supports the claim that a deity exists.

This is a topic with a religious theme, so some discussions about religion which are strictly off topic are to be expected. There's nothing wrong with a little discussion as long as people manage to stay civil (although this appears to be easier said than done).

That said, there's a very clear distinction between discussion and ignorant hate speech, which is of course not tolerated. Keep that in mind, Rsandee.

I would try to explain it a bit.

12 - 2 = 10 NOT 8.
Catholics make statues and they swear, so they needed to erase 2 commandments.
''You should not make idols, you should not take the name of your Lord in vain''
So, 10 - 2 = 8.
8 is obviously not 10, people would notice.
So, they added 2 more commandments, duplicates, which I already pointed out.

This shows that catholics differ from other christians alot, they can't even be called christians, sometimes.
They abuse the name of God, and they make ''idols''.
Thus, they abuse 2 commandments, and they support other catholics in doing the very same.

Except for the part where you don't need a good reason to be an atheist.
It seems that I'm either alone, or one of the few on RPC here that contstantly (like every day) think about if there is a God or not.
A quick bang from nowhere seems illogical to me, even more illogical than a God.
Either way, I used to be an atheist, and actually; all I believe in right now; is that there is something.
And since these are 10 very simple rules (for me), I don't see a reason to NOT believe in God.
If I don't believe, I die.
If I believe, and God exists, I go to heaven.
If I believe, and God doesn't exist, I die.
Simple.

Well, science cannot also explain everything. There are supernatural events that science cannot even explain. I can't say I believe in god because I never saw him. Maybe if he existed, there wouldn't be any disgraces in the world. Just a quick thought.
