Oh man, I've totally gotten into Doctor Who. I watched all the episodes of the new series last year, gotten some of the comics and I'm so glad that new episodes are being shown in my country almost instantly after US premiere, so it's something my whole family can watch.

David Tennant still remains as my favourite Doctor. And Donna Noble as my favourite companion.

So, did any of you see the comic con trailer of season 9? If so, what are your thoughts? :D
Currently I'm working through season 1 till 4 at the moment, after watching season 5 till 9.
I am hooked. I am absolutely hooked. I should thank Master I guess...

Thanks Master.

Well… I think my overall thought is “sure, why not”. I'm unfortunately not hyped as I used to be by the series. Oh, and there was some characters that are good to be seen again, but… Well, we'll see.

The last christmas special was excellent, though. But the last season was so unequal… :/ Some great ideas, some dumb plot, some interesting characters, some awful deliveries…
I've got tired of Muffat's style of writing. It used to be my favorite writer, and what he did with the season 5 and 6 was excellent. But now I have the feeling that everything is predictable, that the show alternates between pandering and poor philosophy. Everything isn't bad, but… It lacks surprises, simple but great ideas, and appealing characters.
I'm not really enjoying when the shows tries to be too epic, or stays too focused on an big arc through several seasons. I know many don't have that opinion, but I miss a little the Russel T. Davies episodes, where each one was about an unique set of character, one idea, and explored before all the characters of the Doctor and his companions, as well as their relationship. Season 3 and 4 were really great in that aspect.

At least, that season won't be dedicated to the introduction of Peter Capaldi, and this is GREAT! I think Peter Capaldi is great, but season 8th was so much about questioning the concept of the character itself, that it didn't allow him to exploit his full potential. In place, we had this “grumpy Doctor vs. smart-ass companion” story that, in my opinion, wasn't that much interesting.
But now Capaldi is here, and has been here, so it might go forward. As I said, the christmas episode was pretty cool, so other episodes of that quality would be great!
Although I still wish Moffat let the series to another writer.

OH man, season 2 finale made me shiver...
I didn't know I could care that much for fictional characters

Well, this thread's going to go down under. Before it does though, have you folks heard the rumours about there not being a full series next year?

I've seen that clip not to long ago. This show seems really interesting now. May give it a watch once I get back my Netflix membership.

Apparently, because of Sherlock. This hasn't been verified however, so make of it what you will. In the meantime, we've now got less than a month to go 'til Series 9!

We've come so far! I remember watching the last episode and feeling that distant heartache of months on end without any new Doctor...! Soon, sweet relief!

Mmm, I still have to catch up on both seasons 2 and three, but in the meantime I can't wait till Season 8 commences! Best thing is I'll be able to see it on live TV, as we have BBC at my father's house :D

*Series 9. Series 8 was Capaldi's first. Also, have you gone through the Specials? There were some in 2009 and 2013 that were somewhat outside the normal Series structure.

Dunno if everyone can view it, but the Prequel to the first episode of Series 9 has been released:

Ooops, late nights confuse me  Of course I meant Series 9! And yeah, I've gone through most of the specials, except for those linked with season 3 and 4.

Interesting, I'm not entirely sure what they're talking about (or who that lady is for that matter), but whenever the Doctor starts avoiding things, that's usually when shit gets real.
