Replace Rayman 2 PC models with N64 ones

Hello everyone

As many of you know the PC version of Rayman 2 has undergone some changes from the N64/PS1 version. These changes mainly concern a new Rayman design and less obvious Globox and admiral Razorbeard.
Since I don't like how the main protagonist has been redesigned in this version, my question is if it was possible to change in the PC version first of all the Rayman model with the same of the N64 version?

I have seen that a program has been created to edit Rayman 2 PC textures, and I have personally tested, but unfortunately it does not allow me to edit the models, just the textures with those one of N64 version but this only allowed me to change the hud.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have the same Rayman model of the N64 version on the PC? Even if the operation is complex it does not matter.

That's all I've found:

I realise this is not a very helpful comment, and is in fact a rather pedantic one, so apologies in advance - but in fact the model used in the PC version IS the original model, used in the Dreamcast version (which came out first, and was the template for the other releases). These models were simply downgraded for the older hardware on the N64 and PS1.
Anyway, pedantic comment out of the way - best of luck on your search!

I'd also like so say it's nice to see you around Lachimax! While I wasn't on the forum back then, I still like to see people return that have been here since the mid 2000s. :D

Hey Lachimax! :D

To address the topic, there is currently no process for changing models in any version of Rayman 2, though I think there might be someone working on it now (can't be sure).

Let's hope. It would be nice to play with N64 models and huds in the PC version. Someone says that the PC (and dreamcast) models would be the original ones, I disagree.
Apart from the fact that Rayman 2 was designed entirely for N64 and just then ported to PS1 and PC (and the PS1 version is the most faithful to the original version, or in any case much more than you think), but if you look at the back of the big box of PC version you can see how the game images are the same of the N64 version. Pity that at last they replaced the original models and 2D hud. Honestly in the PC version it looks like Rayman has a double chin.

The game was designed for PC, and downgraded for N64. I would recommend watching this video here for more details :)
It is true that the PS1 version is much more like the original though as it was most likely branched from an earlier version of the game, but it was also modified to run on the PS1.

It's a really good idea. I too have never endured the redesign of the pc version so it would be nice if a patch or something like that was created that automatically modifies hud and models of the version pc replacing them with those of the n64 version.
According to some it would not be possible to replace the models in the pc version because the graphic engine is unable to support the modification, honestly I don't believe that. In the end the models of the n64 version just should fit the engine of the pc version, I don't see anything particularly complex. If there is a version that can be modified that is the pc version.
Anyway, I hope a lot too. Install the pc version and then modify the models with a program or, even better, directly have a patch or the modified version ready for use it would be fine.

The result would be more or less this. Simply beautiful.
