Congratz to Torsinn! He has got quite conistent at two hard but important skips: Precipice 1 skip and "Jesus skip" in Iron Mountains 1 - both made with the use of lum boost glitch.
To indicate how difficult the skips are, I can say that they involve multiple very precise inputs, with no feedback from the screen - only with muscle memory and "in-mind" timer.

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
Congratulations to Torsinn! I've seen his runs get closer and closer to the world record over the past few months, and here we finally are.
I don't believe you used any of these skips in your previous world record, do you have any plans to come back to the game with those new tricks?

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
Heh, if I ever get consistent with those skips (at the moment I have maybe 10% consistency at Jesus skip, and I never got Precipice skip), then I come back for sure. I am sometimes practicing with those skips themselves, but they are hard.

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
I think this is a better time than the one on the list of Rayman records, but it's hard to compare because we shouldn't use the in-game timer, should we?

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
I don't know if the N64 timer is as stupidly misprogrammed as the PC one, but probably!

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
Hmm, I am pretty sure the linked records list is outdated - and probably the newest run is faster.
You should consider the speedrun.com leaderboard the only up to date.
I will try to look if the forum's records list can be somehow edited.

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
Well, I must admit that page is probably a bit redundant with the speedrun.com leaderboards, and rather tedious to keep up to date. Moreover, the Rayman 2 section was built using the in-game timer, therefore all runs would have to be retimed, though this might prove hard because only two of them have linked videos.

This run is trash, but at least I used all the stuff I wanted to do!
Basically, NOoB (No Out of Bounds) is a category close to glitchless, but where a few glitches are useful:
- Airswim in FG1
- Tornado Skip in FG5
- Orb skip in Stone & Fire
I didn't use them but you could also do some void glitches, and IBG in EC2 for example.

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
I like the idea of this No OoB category, it has the advantages of glitchless but it's a bit more fun. Airswim is almost some sort of OoB however.

I get your point in that it's the most game-breaking of the non-OOB glitches, I suppose.hoodlumsworld wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 11:17 am I like the idea of this No OoB category, it has the advantages of glitchless but it's a bit more fun. Airswim is almost some sort of OoB however.
