This is the main topic to discuss the speedrunning of Rayman 2. Share the latest news, runs and techniques here, all while competing with the fastest runners!
I just wanted to let people know that the current challenge of the month involves Rayman 2 if anyone is interested in participating. For now, we're just going with the Walk of Life.

That's great! I don't suppose those bonus levels are of much interest when speedrunning the entire game, but I'm sure it'll be a welcome change from the usual grinding.
Yeah, I'm watching it right now. It's a world record attempt actually, I can't wait to see where he'll get.
Edit: he finished at 1:11:51, a pretty good time! The Echoing Caves skip was a bitch though.

I had no idea Treasure% was even a thing! I guess it's interesting because, well, it's shorter, and you don't need to worry about collecting enough Lums to get past those pesky Teensies.

Oh so that's what Treasure% means, I was actually curious about that, but it makes a lot of sense.

Ah, I see! Something tells me 12RayChienne9 would be very uncomfortable with the concept!
Recent Glitches Compilations

Hey Speedrunners!
As a speedrunner I believe, that you might also want to be familiar with recent glitch finds in this game - especially since we skip many levels with Early Echoing Caves. Here are compilations from 2018 and 2020 year - the most recent finds!

This speedrun was done in single segment, without cheat codes (except for "NoMovies" at very beginning which switches cutscenes off), only glitches.
*Loadless timer shown at end of run, highlights how fast my run is without loads. RTA includes loads and does not accurately represent the gap between me and my competitors, since my computer is really solid. As you can see, I had only 1 minute 1 second in loads.
Good run, ok early game, great endgame. Most timesave is in early echoing caves split itself. And I need to delete quite a few fake golds.
Additional details:

Thanks for the share, Darnok! I remember Aaron posted the 2018 version a couple years back, but it's still nice to watch it again. I'm curious by the way, why is shooting actualy required to get a damage boost in this game? As for the 2020 version, it's good to have ledge grab manipulation explained, I thought those were mere superjumps at first. And the part about entering the Razorbeard cutscene is great, however useless it is. I wouldn't have expected the characters to be animated there...

Congrats to Glackum for a new world record! Pretty impressive overall, especially the late game. And yet, there's still some time to save with the Echoing Caves skip and the one he didn't attempt in the Iron Mountains. Now is Darnok gonna have to reinstall the game?

Well, as for damage boost - it probably resets some Rayman's state/animation and makes the speed/boost being preserved. You can observe similar behaviour if you jump out of water and grab the ledge before you land somewhere - when you jump again, you get the boost.
There is a cool Robin's video related to explanation of GLM (Grab Location Manipulation glitch).
I hope I will be able to make the game work reliably good on Ubuntu. And it is time to find more minor timesavers.

Yeah, especially since it only took him a handful of attempts this week.

In my case, it works fine (LFS but if that works then Ubuntu will), but the only issue is the controller. I haven't found a way to make a controller map properly yet, unless something like xboxdrv instead of xpad will help.

Just make sure you're running a Xorg session, not a Wayland one. I'm not sure if Ubuntu has made the switch by default yet, or if you're using the NVIDIA driver (which would make it moot).

Lovely, a run using the old route! I find it much more pleasant to watch, given that Echoing Caves skip is a pain to get, and the new route completely skips my favorite level, the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. Not that we get to see much the level anyway, as it's mostly about going out of bounds and heading straight to the exit.
