So a bunch of days ago i was on 4chan, scrolling through /v, where people talk about videogames,
there was this thread about obscure beta things in videogames, and since i like this sort of stuff i clicked on it
after scrolling through some images i stumbled upon this one

the thread also seems to have vanished into thin air, reverse searching the image gives 0 results
i also tried to upscale and sharpen the image
now, this could be a fake, yet i am not super sure about it , and i don't recognize the pirate either, maybe it's a beta?

Interesting find, I think 4chan is excluded from the Wayback Machine, so if the original thread is gone I don't know how it can be retrieved.

Wow, nice find! It looked like some kind of beta Henchman 1000 at first sight to me
Looking at the picture again it seems that this robopirate has fired something like a cannonball, interesting

In fact, that's an interesting find. You could always try find the thread again on 4archive.
The pirate does give off a Henchman 1000 vibe.
Also we could see a Henchman 800 fire cannonballs at 0:29 in this trailer so that's nothing new.

me and a friend on the rayman discord server tried to look for it but to no avail, i found it a few days ago,i think either thursday or friday, maybe i'll look for it again, perhaps i missed it?
i tried figuring out this guy's shape and it does look somewhat similar to the henchman 1000
by the look of his pose he looks like he throws stuff instead of shooting it, but that might just be me
i'll try to look deeper into this,i really want to see wether this is true or false

Looks like the very first pirate-fight arena in the game, in Fairy Glade part 3. Is there any released version of Rayman 2 where pirates throw bombs? I thought there were some variants on some console versions that did things other than shooting energy balls…

the closest thing in-game that shoots bombs is the yellow pirate from revolution, but that game does not have that specific arena as far as i remember
it looks more like ninjaws,look at the pose, but i don't remember them shooting at all

There is a trailer that shows the red henchmen shooting bombs/cannon balls:
But I don't remember seeing a robo-pirate that looks like that.

This is rather intriguing! I would be surprised if Henchman 1000 already existed back then and was reused in Rayman M, so I can only assume it's some early version of the ninja Henchman?

Finding a better quality file would help by a lot, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be one indexed by Google like Geigergast said.

Maybe it's a Pirate we already know, but who knows? Maybe there were more Pirates models in Rayman 2.
Hey, if he looks like a mix between a Henchman 800 and a Henchman 1000, maybe it's a Henchman 900!
Or maybe it's a Robo-Rooter! Remember them on that sign in the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire?

Nice find boomboleros, the skin from Rayman Arena and the Henchman shown in the image definitely look alike. A way more than Henchman 1000 does compared to it. Now I wonder if this model of Henchman was supposed to appear in Rayman 2!

I just wanted to add that there is a trailer with a odd looking robo-pirate jumping (00:25), but the quality is so bad you can't really tell what it looks like. Maybe it is just a regular henchman, but the quality of the video makes it look weird.

Upon closer inspection, the model is of a Henchman 800, but the texture is different.
So, not a prototype design of H-1000.
A alternative Henchman 800 skin in Rayman Arena (GameCube version) bears resemblance to what's shown in the enigmatic Rayman 2 image.

I didn't notice the boots. But the head model is of H-800.

It definitely looks like the green Henchman to me.
bears resemblance to what's shown in the enigmatic Rayman 2 image.
