Do games the console is backwards compatible with count in choosing your favorite?

Each of us prefer our own respective consoles for our own respective reasons and criteria, choose as you please, there's no set rule.

I am honestly not surprised PS2 is winning big time. It plays ALL PS1 games perfect and it has very good library. I hope PES 2015 and FIFA 15 will be on PS2. I might not play sports games, but I don't want to see PS2 stopping making games even if only sports games.
Only reason why I put PS1 is because it's first console I ever played and because of nostalgia, but PS2 is better I must admit. Shame that it is not getting more games released besides sports titles.

Meh, the PS2 is old now, everything it could ever do has been superseded with superior formats and technologies, while I appreciate the support, I think the resources used to still develop for it would be better used to develop for more modern ideas.

If that's true, I would choose the 60GB PS3 without a doubt. It is perfectly backwards compatible with PS2 games and (almost) with PS1 games, as well as PS3 games. PS1 and PS2 games are also more convenient to play on the PS3, since it has an infinite memory card capacity, and provides features such as upscaling and a non-interlaced output. Many games can also be downloaded from the PSN store as well, even downloads for games like The Last of Us and the Uncharted series are cropping up.

... You know that the PS2 is officially discontinued since a good while, right?

Discontinued and stop making games is not same thing.
Discontinued just means they are not making new units of system. They can still make games for it.
Dreamcast was discontinued in 2001 and new game for it came in 2013. Believe it or not, Dreamcast is still getting some games released but rarely.
PS2 was discontinued in the beginning of 2013 yet PES 2014 and FIFA 14 which were released later were still on PS2.
Original Xbox was discontinued in 2006 yet the last game was made in 2008 or 2009 I believe.

Honestly, I find curious how I nevermore spotted new games for PS2 in shops since it was discontinued, that's why I'm saying that.

Wait, new Dreamcast games in 2013? Official ones?

My guess is that many shops around the world stopped ordering PS2 games since it would not sell that much (plus both games in question are on PS3 as well so they probably decided to order PS3 versions)

As for Dreamcast games. This is newest one:

It seems like a really fun shooter. I believe it is official since Play Asia is selling it.

Okay guys, I just finished some quiz from Sony to try and win PS Vita or some other games and when they asked me for adress in the end, I CANNOT PUT COUNTRY I AM IN RIGHT NOW!!!
I am tired of this, 3 of the countries I could put as a choice are not on the list. When is world gonna start treating everything for every region same?

Hm, depends on the region, I'd assume, that would define the places the competition is valid for.

Well, if some companies are even still making Dreamcast games, maybe they will continiue making sports games on PS2 still.

At least that can be bypassed. This on Sony website can't.

I mostly use my Vita for PS1 games lol, but there are some great native games too, like Walking Dead, Metal Gear Solid Collection, and Rayman Origins.

Meh, I'm pretty sure there's been backups of games from various consoles, I don't think it's that significant in the unlocking side of things.
