Hello all! Pirate-Community is organizing its eighteenth edition of the posts in a day record. For those who aren't familiar with the rules, this is how it works:

This is not a spam contest, and useless messages are obviously not welcome. However, the special conditions during the record day will be the cause of a certain leniency, especially as concerns old topics, which can be bumped freely.

The current record stands at an insane 32252 posts. Can we do better this year? That's up to you!

The rewards rise to the occasion: each post is worth 15 Tings within the given time span, and then come the bonus Tings: 1500 for participating, 1500 for beating one's previous posts in a day record, and 3000 Tings for the winner. For example, some time ago someone earned the incredible amount of 84690 Tings that day.

As usual, we're planning on having it on a Saturday during the summer or early autumn, more specifically from 22:00 UTC on the Friday night to 22:00 UTC the following day (yes, time zones are confusing ). We're thinking of an August-to-mid-September date range, so please vote in the poll above to let us know when you will be available!

It's that time of the year again, I guess I'll vote for every option since any date is fine by me as long as it is on a weekend.

Not gonna lie, I'm surprised the server handles perfectly that ammount of activity

Well, there was the time in 2009 when the server crashed and the day had to be postponed until September (at which point the server had been upgraded)

But how does it work ? Do I have to go to as much topics as I can to post a message ?

The posts need to be at least interesting or I can just write "Rayman" on every post ?

They should be interesting, please! It's not a spam-fest, as Humch's explanation says

It doesn't have to be in several topics, naturally this will depend on which topics are active and which ones would be interesting to bump!

Oh yeah, record day!...Um...How do figure out what my last year's post record was? I wanna see if I can top it, but I don't know what the number even is...Is there anywhere I can find it?

Yeah, you can vote for all the days if you don't see any particular reason not to vote for one of them

Check out the Record Day compilation! I just stickied it as well, since it doesn't make sense to have to search for it tbh…

I think I remember another case where the server crashed too and we added an hour or so to make up for the downtime, but we haven't had any issues in a very long time. Maybe the decreasing activity is a factor too.

I have an idea for a game that can be played during RD, I start by uploading a small square image (800x800p ?) with a white background and one single line, each user that posts afterwards must reupload the image and add one more line (until RD is over). The idea is to see what comes of it and each year we could have a special RD drawing made by the community.

I guess it is something like the Christmas Tree game from years ago, but simpler. Does this seem interesting to anyone?

Hangman should also be a good way to get some messages.

Oh shoot, I forgot all about Hangman! Might be a bit chaotic on RD though...

Just asking, how do you participate in RD? Do you just post or do you have to sign up in some way?

That being the case, I think the outcome is clear: Record Day #18 will be held on Saturday 26 August 2023!
