Yes, it is a possibility too.

If for some reason they’d intended Origins to be a prequel to Rayman 3, I’m sure they would have made it clearer.

This is kind of my impression.

I doubt that phrase could possibly be hinting to anything, as I also doubt they were planning Rayman Origins back in 2003. On top of that, the developers wouldn't give that vague connection as the only link evidence of Origins being a prequel..

Ancel said in an interview that they were starting the game's development by endings of 2008.

Would it be safe to say that The Bubble Dreamer is an alter-ego of Polokus?

Polokus is just the Bubble Dreamer. No alter-egos are involved.

Sort of like I used to be Henchman800 but now I'm Rulez. I'm not an alter-ago.

So, if Rayman Origins came before Rayman 2, then wouldn't he have seen Bubble Dreamer (Polokus) during that time?
But, if Rayman "knows" quoted above, remember the bubble dreamer/polokus is a shape shifter, rayman may not no he was a shape shifter at that time.

Rayman Origins takes place after Rayman 2, so Rayman’s recognition/non-recognition of Polokus is not really an issue.

If anyone still thinks that Polokus and the Bubble Dreamer are meant to be different characters, here’s a straight-up confirmation from Gabrielle Shrager that they are indeed the same:

The line Spiral speaks of:
...le fameux Bubble Dreamer, rencontré dans Rayman 2 sous le nom Polokus

Let's take a look:

I COMPLETELY disagree, Polokus has an entirely different shape to that of his Bubble Dreamer Form.
BD has legs, Polokus has not, BD has a more pronounced head, Polokus does not.
There are plenty of differences between both forms, simply placing a beard on Polokus does not make him look anything like his Bubble Dreamer form.

It was stated that Bubble Dreamer shapeshifts. SUDDENLY FANWARZ

I suppose that with the next game, if it ever happens, we will be forced to go with reincarnation to make everything work and everyone happy. Then, Legend of Zelda's timeline nightmare will reincarnate on this very board. :hinhinhin:

There's an official publication explaining the timeline:

I don't really see many similarities to be honest, if we were not informed that they were the same and that Polokus could shape-shift , I'd probably end up thinking he was a different character entirely who would have taken Polokus' role.

I do see legs inn Polokus in that 3D model.

A shapeshifter can become anything, so why so many seriousness about the physical differences between him and the Bubble Dreamer legged-glute-alike form?

I was disagreeing to the fact that Bubble Dreamer looks like Polokus sans Beard.
