I have a challenge for you all and everyone is free to participate!

Rayman for the DSi is actually a pretty great version to speedrun imo and it would be great to make it at least a little bit more active! It's also pretty beginner friendly too!

So, you have until June 16, 2024 11:59 PM CET to submit a speedrun of Rayman DSi 100%!

The prize pool is €300 and will be divided by 2 groups of people: Experienced and New players. The amount of people that participate per group will decide how much of the pool goes to that group.

Experienced player
You have a time on the speedrun.com leaderboard of any version of Rayman 1. (GBC excluded)

New player
You have never submitted any version of Rayman 1 to speedrun.com. (GBC excluded)


Rules

• All speedrun.com submissions NEED to be livestreamed. (You cannot submit locally recorded video's)

• Recording a 3DS with webcam/camera is allowed. (you're not required to use capture software for a 3DS).

• Emulator is allowed. (Use Ribshark's Mod to be able to run the game properly. A setup guide can be found https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_6W ... sp=sharing)

• Anti-Dark Matters & Save file need to be shown at the end of the run. (All checkmarks need to be ticked and the file save needs to say 100%

• Beating Mr. Sax & Mr. Skops is required to reach 100%.

• You can submit runs to speedrun.com until June 16, 2024 11:59 PM

• Casual playthroughs are not allowed.

Extra Bonus Incentive
The first person to beat my current PB (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KmcjJDPmXc) within the submission timeframe (June 16th) will receive a €25 bonus reward.

Thanks for organizing this, it is a very cool contest. Here's some highlights of the video for those who would enjoy a summary:

• DSi version has several advantages over other versions: It has fewer loading screens, skips can be performed to avoid entire screens or cage animations, and there are more glitches that can be exploited to save time.
• One glitch is the “Plum Skip” which utilizes the fact that hitting a plum from close by will send it in the opposite direction.
• Another glitch is the “Claw Skip” which is possible because the hell bar moves with you in DSi, unlike the PS1 version.
• We go to Bongo Hills first instead of Swamps or Forgetfulness because Bongo Hills has one extra cage, and skipping a cage is possible due to another glitch.
• We utilize damage boosts throughout the game to gain speed.
• AIM FOR 1:16

This is really cool indeed, and I'm glad to see that people are submitting runs already.

Two submissions in one day, I can see that things are accelerating! This is certainly going to be exciting.

The DSi challenge will be over in less than an hour. There is no more live runs going on at this moment. So I'm hereby already posting the results!

There have been 8 submissions for DSi which is a lot more than I expected. Thank you all for participating!

There is as many experienced runners as there is beginners, so the prize pool will be split 50/50.

I missed the chance to participate in this awesome Rayman DSi speedrun challenge. Are there any similar events or challenges planned for the future? I'd love to get involved next time.

I don't know if Thex will organize more contests in the future but this site hosts one called SpeedRay every year. Here is the last one.
