Well, that's interesting! While I'm not usually a huge fan of multiplayer shooter games, I'm still very curious to see if and how Rayman will feature in the game. :)

It has him on the logo, it’d be funny if he had a starring role

Guys, this is a NFTrash project, don't support this. :beurk:

They already teased this shit months ago before trying to hide it and make up for it when the community got angry, but now they made it real... And the way they're reacting to their feedback all over social networks already show the "huge respect" they have for Rayman and the community, including:
Anyway, Rayman belongs to us now, we can do what we want with him... even replace him if needed. 😉
Even "in character", this is something immensely stupid to say to the fans that could potentially support your outdated scam of a "product"...

So this is just the curse of the rayman series? Getting so close to a new game and then it being taken away in a snap of a big greedy CEO’s KFC-drenched fingers? :fuck2: :ouin:

Did they specify how they plan to "include" NFTs into the game?

So far, they implied it will be somewhat tied to the ID system or whatever... They're being purposely extremely unclear and ambiguous about it since the beginning (while also hiding the NFT implementation behind buzzwords as usual), knowing the userbase's response will be universally negative (and it already is, aside from the obligatory Twitter blue checkmarks who are into crypto stuff)...
They also blocked various accounts criticizing the usage of NFTs, though I lost track of the tweets posted by the big accounts that showed it happening to them some time ago.

Really, at this point, I take back all of the pessimism I previously had towards the Mario + Rabbids DLC and the Captain Laserhawk show... They were very good for Rayman especially with all the popularity he regained since last year.
Using his image for a dead fad that's been long considered a ponzi money-laundering scheme (and represents a shit ton of other issues) is one of the worst insults that could ever be done to a franchise and their dedicated fans who have waited decades for *actual* new games. :beurk:

The fact they did this instead of the highly requested second season for said show just proves yet again how greedy and out of touch the higher-ups are at Ubisoft... They're really in the philosophy that they can use their characters to make profit with *anything*, because they believe there will always be customers to support it as long as the brand's name/image is slapped on it.
The only remaining hopes for Rayman at this point is that Ubisoft goes out of business and the franchise is bought by a company that actually cares, or a complete change of direction at Ubi which is far less likely... :tssk:

Yeah this is a shit show to be honest. I have seen how fans are not happy about it and I don't blame them. There is nothing "epic" about this. :tssk:

There has also been some controversy from things that Eden account has said. Although clearly trying to be in character, people are so unhappy about the NFT nonsense that they are actually just constantly criticising and giving them negative feedback. They did go as far as to say the whole "It's a Captain Laserhawk game, not a Rayman game. Anyway, Rayman belongs to us, we can do whatever we want with him...even replace him if needed", and nobody liked that, regardless as to whether it was part of an act or not.

I legitimately think the fans should take over. Rayman fans always create some very high quality content and they show to be much more passionate about it too than any of these people could ever dream of. Just let Rayman's fans take care of him, they know what they're doing. They also do it in their free time and don't want any money for it. :P

That message was an obvious reference to Rayman being replaced with what appears to be a copy of himself in the series, but of course, it's wasn't a great idea to respond to negative criticism with this kind of humor. Surely, any community manager should know better than to alienate their fans, right?

Anyway, I don't necessarily subscribe to the opinion that NFTs are inherently bad, but I'm yet to see a compelling use case for them in video games. Let's see how this goes.

I agree with Hunch on this... That's the very first thing that came to my mind when I read that. However, I'm not sure if a CM should answer to negative opinions like that (not only that specific comment, but the others too), that isn't professional at all and probably the worst way to promote your game.

I'm not sure how could NFTs be implemented in a game. Hopefully this isn't the Continue? they showed at the end of season 1... A second season would be way more interesting

Yeah the main factor was how this is an account run by someone which is supposed to be professional, and it was anything but. I personally can't see much good coming from it, but then as I mentioned several times before, I really don't even like CL at all either way. I just never personally found it to make much sense. I wouldn't like any content relating to it either way, but these types of ideas that people clearly are not going to be on board with aren't going to make the game go very far.

So far, it looks like it's the "Citizen ID Cards" that will be made available as NFTs on the Arbitrum blockchain, which in turn runs on Ethereum. Those will be required to play the game in its early stage, but not after its public release, it seems. Looks like they're pretty much free, but they require setting aside 0.08 ETH (about $214) for the duration of the "mint", along with other requirements linked to Discord and X (formerly Twitter). There's also something about them giving players the right to vote, though I wonder what that means for those who will join after public release.

On a side note, Ethereum changed their consensus mechanism to proof-of-stake like two years ago, meaning that claims of disproportionate environmental impact for NFTs stored on it are bogus. Does that make it a good idea to use blockchain and NFTs for this game? I have no idea at this point, but I thought I'd address this misinformation anyway.

Sorry for answering to the old message, these "Citized IDs" are now called "Niji Warriors". And they recently made it free (though you have to pay for fees, which makes it not free??? Idk, I'm not into NFT stuff so I'm very confused by that). They once reduced the price for it to 100 dollars since a lot of crypto bros complained about the price, and then made it free.
And those NFTs you would be able to get from Magic Eden (from what I understand, it's a nft market?), that's from their official Discord server.
Also, you HAVE to own one of those NFTs to even vote, which is very weird, especially for a SHOOTER game, so I don't know how it would even work in first place. :?: :?:

The early access is also for those who has those NFTs too, so yeah, and that mint date thing is going to start tomorrow.
I have played the game when it was in closed beta (got selected), and for playing it they gave me POAP (which is basically another NFT, but like certificate? Basically "Been here, sheen that", but quite literally), they said that there would be unique item for those who played it during closed beta, but idk. :pardon3:

Also updated the page for it in Raywiki with a bit more stuff, but I might update it again later.

UPDATE TO ANSWER SOME PEOPLE ABOUT IT:

As I played the game (and it also showed in their official trailers), those NFTs are skins basically (they're randomized). And Rayman (along with other characters from the show) is a skin here, though got "Legendary" tier (with gold stuff).

They always been unclear about it, even misleading sometimes. Like when that Citizen ID was dropped at first (it was here at least since the show's release) like making a little card (where you could choose your job, your favourite wrestler and your gender), MANY fans of the show weren't aware that it was actually a thing for their NFTs, so people on Twitter started to warn others about it. So yeah, the NFTs were planned at least since the beginning (cuz official Ubisoft Web3 server have their channels for Laserhawk at least few days before the release of the show, and their website listed that server to get ANY information about the show for months before they made Eden server, so imagine tons of children being here along with crypto bros).

I see, thanks. Not sure what the value added of storing those as NFTs is compared to using a traditional centralized database. Maybe it could make sense when Ubi abandons the game, preventing it from dying like Rayman Adventures did?

I think if the game's servers will shut down, it will make those NFTs being rendered as useless and worthless basically. :pardon:
So you could theoretically end up with a picture of your "ID" that will costs nothing, if the game closes, from what I have heard about other crypto games.

I see so Rayman is not even a fully playable character in this game. He’s a playable skin. Figures.

Honestly I want Rayman as far away from this shit fest as possible. I don't care that he's a skin I just don't want him involved in an NFT scam whatsoever lol

Well this guy’s name is Ramon. He dropped the Rayman name so he’s now a different character to me. The real Rayman is still sleeping anyways
