Do you think anything will ever come of this tweet Ubisoft posted and deleted back in 2020?

In a word. No.

I find this fandom in particular has a bad habit of latching onto anything and I get why. Genuinely. But clinging onto the smallest potential morsel is only setting yourself up for disappointment and it ain't gonna do you any favours mentally. It being been four years since that was posted doesn't exactly help matters either when it comes to it indicating anything, whole games have been developed and shipped in that timespan.

Unless there's some official backing behind it, I'd take stuff from the socials at face value, it's not the first time they've had to explicilty state that they weren't trying to indicate any news and were simply just trying to drum up engagement rather than anything deeper.

Better to become the creator, I think.

was this posted before or after Ancel left? If before, maybe at the time...but not now. As Hugo says, Ubisoft is now a sinking ship, and they are shooting themselves in the foot with one bad executive decision after another. They are investing in NFT's, so it's just another nail in the coffin and only a matter of time where they fall apart if nothing different is done.

Yeah, it already did. This was for the art exhibition Ubisoft Montpellier held in 2022 (after some delays due to Covid). They dug up a bunch of concept art for their games, including Rayman, to showcase there. Most of it has already been shared around online, for example some of it you can find in this tweet here.
I'm pretty sure they deleted their Facebook posts because of how it started spreading and hyping people up for a game when that wasn't their intention.

I think there's a saying, behind every cynic is a disappointed idealist. I don't say what I say to be some sort of condescending dickhead, honest. The thing is I've been through this sort of speculation enough times that I've gained an appreciation for the need for perspective and managed expectations. The alternative, is well...take a look at some of the visceral reactions to the guy who did the fake Smash leak, there was a lot of gnashing of teeth, but also a lot of genuinely depressing disappointment. I do worry sometimes that folks' own wellbeing takes way too much stock on these sorts of things.

So lemme get things straight… people got genuine depression from the fake leaks?

There were some distressing reactions yeah, I'm not gonna elaborate too much cause I don't think it's fair to the people, but yeah some folks were very badly crushed. Others were more pissed, I remember a running gag about getting run over by a bus for a while.

Yeah, like Master said, nothing special was going on at the time and that tweet clarified that. Not that there was any good reason to actually believe it in the first place, it was just desperate fans extrapolating small, meaningless clues.

Maybe not, but it's not healthy either to let the lack of news about a video game series affect you so much!

Certainly. I much prefer considering rayman origins and legends as rayman 5 and 6 because that way most people will be less effective. I’m also not desperate about rayman, just simply optimistic
