What were your first operating systems? Which ones you use now? How many time?

Windows 3.1. - 1994
Windows 95 - 1995/1998
Windows 98 - 1998
Windows 98 SE - 1999
Windows ME - 2000/August 2007
Windows XP - August 2007/Nowadays
Windows Vista - 2007
Windows 7 - November 2010/Nowadays

MS-DOS - oh about 1993 to current
Windows 3.1 - same as MS-DOS
Windows 95 - Current
Windows 98 SE - about 1999 ~ 2000 to Current
Windows 2000 - about 2000 to Current
Windows XP - about 2002 or 2003 to Current
Windows Vista - Eh, 2008 or 2009 I think? I forgot when. Lol, but I don't use it current.
Windows 7, since release and current.


Yeah... I have multiple machines for multiple purposes, oldest system is my 386SX packard bell.

Wait, waaaait... I take that BACK... my oldest system is my IBM 5150, with MS-DOS 2.0 and 3.0

I only remember as far back as having a Windows 95 computer, but I wouldnt be surprised if my mom had one that was older.
We did upgrade to a Windows 98 computer. I remember having a Harry Potter screensaver that made barking sounds. It would freak my mom out
My grandmother has XP on her computer, and my mom's laptop had XP until it completely died.
my computer is Windows 7. I prefer XP.

I couldnt begin to give you dates. We have had so many computers I can't keep track.

I wouldn't think to harshly over it, if I were you. Windows XP has been the longest living operating system so far. Pretty stable too. What we need to worry about is what Windows 8 will bring us...

Well, ok. I cut my thought process short since I figured that no one wanted to hear my rants about how they tried to make certain things idiot proof, when instead they made things harder. The navigation in Word 2010 is horrendous, paint is hard to use now, and I dont like how they laid the control panel out.

But a computer is a computer and I should be glad I have one at all :p

Damn, you can't be serious. I hated Windows Vista, for example. I think I didn't even use it for a whole year. I was doing dual-boot with XP when I was trying it but I decided to just hold XP alone.

I love Windows XP for its stability too. I do not intend to upgrade to Windows 7 so soon too. I'll at least use XP for 4 years more. (I used Windows ME during 7)

I still don't know anything about Windows 8.

Why do I get the feeling that there was a topic like this here before?

Anyway, might as well post mine:
1996-1999 - Windows 95
1999-2004 - Windows 98
(Overlaps start here - I like having lots of OSes at the same time)
2004-2008 - Windows XP
2005-2008 - openSUSE
2007-present - Windows Vista
2007-2009 - Debian Etch
2009-present - Windows 7
2009-present - Ubuntu (updating regularly)
2011-present - Windows 8 Dev. Preview (from which I'm posting this)

And these are just the most notable ones. I have older and less-used OSes knocking around in Virtual Machines and the like.

let's see, in order
Windows 98 for a couple of years
Windows 2000 for like 6 years
Windows Vista for two years
Windows XP and OS X Leopard for about 2/3 years
And now using OS X Snow Leopard, OS X Lion, and Windows 7 64bit

I disabled it back to the original, I understand that MS did this since this is going on Tablets, but it's just annoying when I'm using a typical PC and I just want to navigate to a program without all the fuss.

There's some bit's of software 'round the net which can do it for you, but there are also tutorials for doing it manually.
