What if... Full Fight with Mr. Dark

The evil Mr. Dark was the main antagonist of the first Rayman game and just about every fan sees him as a great villian.
However, the final confrontation with him in Candy Chateau (I still wonder as to why this level theme was chosen for 'Mr. Dark's Dare'), he simply transforms into morphs of the previous bosses (some argue he flees, however there is evidence supporting a transformation theory), and this has left a bad taste in the mouth of Rayman fans as it did not satisfy the expectations of a epic final confrontation with the villian, in his own mysterious and dark form. Fighting a large-breasted mosquito with the feet of a giant saxaphone is a bit of an anti-climax for a battle against a villian such as Mr. Dark.

So, what if the fight against Mr. Dark continued with him remaining normal and fighting Rayman in the way players expected?
What would you imagine his attacks and moves being, as well as the way he is finally defeated? How would his magic abilities come into his various attacks? How would the fight be made interesting?
Of course, we can hope for a "true" final fight with Mr. Dark if he returns in a future game, but it's always fun to speculate!

Isn't that manipulating the facts a little?
I'm glad that Dark fought the way he did, I'd rather have a more epic battle of today's standards.
Imagine that, 3D and in HD, where both Rayman and Dark show the full extent of each others powers...

If he does return in a future game, I would actually like to see him transform into the Mr. Stone/Mr. Skops transformation again, even they aren't in the game. It would be a reference to both the two original bosses and the original fight with Mr. Dark, and would look nice in modern graphics ...Just my preference :3

Well, it's interesting you'd bring this up, but I'm planning to have Rayman fight Mr. Dark in a fangame I'll be making over the course of the next couple of decades or so (lol). My idea of his attacks is to use Tings, which are tiny little trapped fairies, as his minions by transforming them into Antitoons and all kinds of bad things, while he uses them to shield himself from harm. The Tings may be used against him after he attacks, for they form a magic circle exposing his weak spots and allowing Rayman to directly inflict damage upon him. After a few rounds of attacker-vicitm, Mr Dark has lost all the Tings and starts battling Rayman with lightning, fire and dastardly shady magic attacks, such as teleportation and walls of black fumes. Eventually, when his Energy is up, he melts away into black smoke, not quite as graphic as you'd expect (I like the contrast between extremes and then a simple death) and finally only his hat remains, which bobs down to the ground, floating on the wind. As it lands, it too puffs into smoke.

And then that's that.

Those who didn’t like the weird fight with the shape-shifting Mr Dark tend to be casual fans. You see plenty of complaints about the final battle on YouTube, but very rarely does anyone on Pirate-Community say that they were disappointed by it.

Ah yes, the FInal boss of Rayman GBC, completely forgot about that one.
I guess that solves the problem of having a proper one on one encounter with Dark for the "true fans"

Too true, whenever I feel like really battling Mr Dark, I grab hold of my trusty ol' GBC!

I like both battles, but I kinda like Mr. Dark's aggressiveness in the Game Boy Color version. Now imagine this in Rayman 1's classical version or in 3D with nowadays' tech. :P

It should take place on a moantain top in the dark sky.
On the ground, everybody's watching how the fight goes and they're all cheering.

After a while, Mr. Dark destroys the moantain and Rayman falls down, but Moskito (probably spelled wrong) catches him.
There should be another fight in the air, kinda like in the final boss battle of Rayman 2 on the Playstation 1 (Not the other versions, they don't have that bossfight).

I happen to like both fights from Ray 1 and Rayman for GBC, but it would be interesting to see what the 3D gen would have as a boss fight...

The fight itself isn't bad. It's the ending that bugs me. No final defeat, or rescue scene.

I KNOW, RIGHT?! Loose ends, man. But then I saw the picture of them all together with the Great Protoon in the background, and I was like "Oh yeah. OK, everything turned out just fine!"

In a Rayman 1 FanFiction I'm working on, I actually greatly expand on this fight. In the draft I have so far, Mister Dark...
Wait, does anyone here mind spoilers? I don't know if I'm gonna revise this fight or.not.

Thanks, Master!

Warning: May Contain Spoilers

Anyway, the final fight of the story starts as Rayman realizes that Mister Dark has been draining energy from the Great Protoon until he would soon become the center of balance in the Valley. Mister Dark doesn't transform into the bosses, but rather creates them to stall Rayman for enough time to gather up his energy for one powerful deadly lightning blast.against Rayman.

After Rayman defeats the bosses, Mister Dark catches him off guard and shoots his blast.at him. But right before it hits him, Betilla somehow gets free of the glass sphere and takes the blow for him, knocking her unconscious and on the brink of death but not dead. Then Mister Dark grabs her and starts draining her energy for himself- since her power comes directly from the Great Protoon, she has the last portion of the energy from it inside her body.

Mister Dark now has all the Protoon's power, and Betilla drops to the floor. Betilla the Fairy has died. Mister Dark is cackling evilly over his new strength and uses the power to become 50 feet tall as the building and the Valley are.falling apart around them, while Rayman is mourning stunned over the fairy's death.

Mister Dark tries to step on him, but Rayman decides he's had enough. He's the last bit of sunlight left in the world, and it's his job to combat the darkness and avenge his family (the Electoons and Betilla) and the Valley. And Rayman keeps Mister Dark's foot above ground, because little does Dark know that since Betilla created him, Rayman also has a bit of the Protoon inside him.

Mister Dark expects all the Electoons to gravitate around him and make him stronger, and they're all pulled there, but they surround Rayman instead, strengthening him to where he grows to the same size as Mister Dark. The battlefield is now leveled, and they go head to head in a boundary pushing brawl of light powers vs dark powers. They soon lock hands and charge their energy in that classic anime fighting stance. But as light always overpowers darkness, Rayman gets the best of Mister Dark and starts draining his energy back from him until Dark shrinks back down to size.

Rayman then steps on him. Dark is still alive, but struggling to crawl away. Rayman lets him go, feeling that the strain and humiliation of his defeat is punishment enough. Rayman then transfers his energy into Betilla, reviving her. Then he brings the Great Protoon back to Dream Forest and transfers the energy back into it, restoring the order of the Valley (Rayman is normal size at this point).

Then they celebrate, and the story ends, and, you know.

...It's a work in progress.

For me the fight would be the same but will start and end differently.
first Rayman runs straight through the door and is caught by Dark, who then removes Rayman's hands, locks them in a cage and traps Rayman behind a ring of fire. Meanwhile, Ales finds Betilla hanging above the arena and tries to free her. Then the in game fight happens.
And at the end, Mr Dark returns to his regular and is weakened from the fight. Rayman readys his punch and delivers a final blow to Mr.Dark leaving lying on the floor. Just then Betilla's prison lands on Dark and crushes him, leaving only a puff of smoke his hat behind. Ales starts looking for Dark while Rayman frees Betilla who rewards him with a mothers hug. they return the Heart back and celebrate with their friends, except for Ales who's seen holding the hat of Mr.Dark.
