I simply enjoy both but I love listening to loud music while playing my favorite video game at the same too! I do it everyday actually!

I don't like to listen to other music while playing videogames at all. It kind of ruins the true/original atmosphere of the game, which is one of the most important aspects to me in any game I play. That's why I hate games with really bad music. I don't like playing with bad music and I don't like muting the sounds and playing music over it either.

That's a very good opinion!

If I'm just screwing around in a sandbox style game, I'll tend to mute the music and use iTunes over top. If I'm playing anything story related though, I won't.

I prefer headphones and listening to the game's original music while playing.

The only "games" I will listen to my own music with are online flash games. I did change quite a few of the music tracks in Sonic Generations though. I really liked that feature. Endless Possibilities for the time eater! Um...what was I talking about?

I agree.
But if I didn't like a videogame's soundtrack (which practically does not happen

), I would mute the music and listen to another thing.
Oh wait, Earthworm Jim 3D has got no music.

What a nice opportunity to listen to other music!

Yeah, that can be fun too. Especially if the game's music gets boring (kinda rare I guess) XD. Speaking of which, that reminds me of a particular track in Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones which was so boring it made me feel sleepy XD (just that 1 track, the rest of the tracks are great.)

In fact I usually turn up the volume on my computer and TV to a pretty loud setting regardless of the consequences.

The games I play as well as the audio are exciting so I Barely listen to music aside from it.
But if I decide to speedrun games then I will actually choose to listen to music that I really like When playing the same games.
I listen to a lot of background soundtracks and a lot of them are remixes from Super Mario 64, Legends of Zelda and Majora's Mask. They do Suit the games...a bit.
I Would say Both but only because at first I want to get used to the game's Atmosphere. But later on I keep playing the game over and over and I think it gets boring so I try to make things a bit more awesome with music Outside of the game and they actually fit well Since I mostly listen to other video game soundtracks and Sometimes their remixes.
