Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire - CP

Bonjour!

Okay, as mentioned earlier in another thread when I'd just purchased it, I'm going to be start another obscure Rayman play-through on another something which is little spoken of in the Rayman community. To all those who hadn't deduced what it is (AKA. everyone that isn't THEdragon), this is half of the French Rayman Activity Centre!

A little more info:

Rayman Accompangement Scolaire is the French equivalent of Rayman Activity Centre. While they share some activities in common, the English and French game(s) are totally different, complete with a different interface and totally different activities and such. It is highly likely that the French games was realised at a later date, as while Activity Centre is based entirely on Rayman 1, Accompangement Scolaire has a bizare Rayman 1.5 theme, with a main focus on Rayman 1 but some hints of Rayman 2 and the infamous for causing flame wars or something Animated Series ;). Accompangement Scolaire comes in two games. Maternelle and CP. I have CP, or Cours préparatoire (first year in primary school, aww :)), which is the one designed for the older age range, and an older age range then Activity Centre.
Unexpectedly, CP itself comes with two disks, one for French and one for Maths. This could be interesting :D

</reallyreallylonghtmltags=P>

Also, the return of Electoon's (possibly) infamous poorly taken camera photographs, complete with beautiful washed out lighting!:

The Front of the box, featuring Rayman 2 styled Rayman in an image with proportions so strange that the Magician is now the size of his shoe: http://s14.postimage.org/itwi9obj4/IMG_ ... 164441.jpg

The inside of the box, revealing the 'lecture' CD: http://s15.postimage.org/b99ikrkve/IMG_ ... 164608.jpg

^Also, there's such thing as Spanish with Rayman and German with Rayman. Interesting....

Pre-warning, I haven't tested it yet, and am probably going to having a large struggle getting up due to the only working computer with a CD drive having 64 bit Windows 7 on it . Wish me luck!

Yeah, I noticed the typo as soon as I posted the thread - but I can't fix it now :P

But if some sort of admin were to change it for me.....=P

You can just edit the subject of the first post to change the title.

It's strange the sheer amount of educational Rayman games that have been made. I'm pretty sure there are more of those than there are actual Rayman games.

Ah, I have good memories of this educational game for CP‏. It was pretty, funny, and very instructive.

I hope you will like the game (And that you manage to run the CDs) ! :D

Well, in French, there are Rayman Premiers Clics, Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire Maternelle, Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire CP, four versions of Rayman Dictées, four versions of Rayman Junior, three versions for Rayman Lecture et Calcul (Reading and Arithmetic) and four versions for Rayman Langues (Languages). So yeah, there are a lot of educational games...

Good god, that is a lot of games. Why did we need all these? There's nothing wrong with them, but really?

Well, when Ubisoft have seen the success of Rayman with childrens, they have decided to exploit this to realize educational games. Okay, they are original, and instructive for childrens. But the Rayman Lecture et Calcul series is and very similar to the Rayman Junior series. So some of them can be considered as useless.

On the other hand, although they aren't a part of the continuity of the Rayman series, the educational games expanded the universe of the Glade of Dreams, because they introduce new places and new characters. I think about Rayman Premiers Clics and Rayman Dictées. That's always good to see. Like the Animated Series, in fact :D

No, CP is for Cours Préparatoire. As Electoon has said, it's the first year in primary school in France.
That's exactly why I removed it from my post before you responded.

 Oh, y'all know just how much I love the educational spinoffs! :mryellow:

And I like the picture of the Magician on the cover, even if he is somehow rediculously tiny... Magic accident, perhaps? It's funny how the Magician and Betilla always act as the 'teachers' in the educational games. They pretty much have bigger roles in the educational games than the original game!

In which case, Happy Birthday!

I know it's imperfect and a little rough around the edges, but i had to edit out the background from an image on the Rayman World website. Maybe next time I set the scanner up I can get a better picture of it, as there is one on a white background on the inside of the sleeve :D

You're a few months too late but YAY! That would be awesome for a special rank! :mryellow:

Awesome! In fact, I'd say it's better than RaymanPC's current Magician rank. You should post it in the Special Rank Archive!

If you disagree with that entire statement, that means you prefer the original/current Magician rank, AND you don't want Electoon posting this version of the Magician rank in the Special Rank Archive.
I don't blame you though, if Electoon updates that thread then I'll have motivation to post more of my crappy special ranks...

Another treat from the disk while I can't get it to work - The Valley from the opening cut-scene! Sorry about the obstructive Rayman 2 logo, it does kind of cover it up a little, but I still think it's cool :)

I think the same picture existed in the Activity Centre installer but maybe with the correct logo on top :P
